Six months after Eldrant, Jade grieves for someone he didn't expect to grieve for, mourns the things he didn't know were there to mourn, and does not write in a dead man's margins, thank you very much.

The end result? A book, apparently.

    On Surviving, and Living After

    Foreword by Jade Curtiss

This manuscript is the only known work of the young man known as Asch the Bloody, otherwise known by his birth name, Luke fon Fabre. Asch rejected the latter name until the very end of his life; out of respect for both him and his replica, I have opted exclusively to use the former.

Because this fandom doesn't have enough "Luke goes back in time to fix things because Lorelei and stuff" fics, right?

Luke fon Fabre dies on Eldrant, and that isn't quite the way Lorelei wanted it to go. If Lorelei had a concept of disaster, it would have applied it just then. Better try again. After all, Lorelei exists at all points in time, and both the past and the future, history and the Score, are memories to it.

So, Luke fon Fabre dies on Eldrant, and then he wakes up again–

    And again–

    And again–

    Summary

Asch-centric canon divergence AU, in which the point of divergence is before the start of game canon. Asch and Ion ally in secret under the respective noses of Van and Mohs, which leads to increasing divergences from the canon timeline, culminating in 'let's just not go to Akzeriuth at all, actually.' Probably best described as a reimagining of the canon, with a focus on filling in the gaps canon left behind, character relationships, politics and political consequences, everyone being a little more competent and consistent than in canon across the board, and my personal Asch-is-actually-intelligent agenda.

Wy8 shakes their head, shoulders going up defensively. “It’s not- okay, it was cool, but it’s not… mine. I was borrowing it. Because I didn’t come through the PA right. That’s why I don’t know.”

“If you don’t know, how do you know you wouldn’t have actually been a robot anyway?” Di chimes in.

“I…” They blink. “I don’t think so. Nobody else is a robot, why would I be?”

Seven frowns consideringly. “Well, a bunch of us are different genders. Maybe it’s like that.”

“I don’t think being a robot is the same as having a gender.”

    “Are you sure?”

    “Uh- well… huh. Actually-”
