Summary
Final story in the All Day Long Series. Jim and Spock are retired in San Francisco. Jim is fading and Spock must figure out how to keep his dementia at bay. This is a bit sad but I think a satisfying solution to Generations which absolutely never happened. If you are triggered by losing someone or aging, this may not be the story for you. You probably want to read at least In the Morning and or In the Afternoon to understand some of the context but it's not necessary.

Summary
It is not particularly unusual for ships to vanish without trace in the dark ocean that is unexplored Space. But for a vanished vessel to abruptly reappear after a decade, well, that is a bit unusual. The Enterprise crew, sent on a rescue/salvage mission to the USS Wanderer, finds that their mission has become considerably more complicated. (To say more would be to spoil it) Halloween episode. In a universe where adherents of Surak did not find pacifism logical, galactic society exists under the guidance and regulation of the Vulcan Protectorate. A rule-breaker by nature, Jim Kirk has been practically doomed from day one. Having escaped from the Elba II Clinical Rehabilitation Institute, he knows there is only one being who has ever been able to crack his encryptions or anticipate his moves.
