Venti floats in the middle of the room, his feet barely brushing the ground. His wings are spread out, the gold encircling his chest and hips shining in the pale light of the moon. Venti winks at him, and Xiao breathes before he dares another look. White gloves, a single white stocking, bracelets of gold and horn. Bare skin and a sweep of white cloth that tangles around his legs. A tattoo on his thigh, matching the one on his chest.
He looks divine.
"Lord Barbatos," Xiao corrects himself with a smile, and green flashes in Venti's eyes. "How may I serve you?"

Clutching his head and attempting to will the shadows away, he’d been ashamed to be found in such a state. Weak and as meek as a newborn, unbefitting his status. The Archon had then found for him a quiet portion of the mountains away from human settlements and further still from his fellow Adepti. Medicine and calming teas, after all, only did so much to alleviate his condition.
Morax had taught Xiao then, all while gently cradling his trembling form, an entirely new way to distract himself from the ever-present weight bearing down on his soul.
