    Summary

Derek wasn’t in denial, he knew an alliance with the north was the only chance they had, but there was no time. The mountains were treacherous, wide, a terribly dangerous journey that took the most experienced travelers months. The Argents would be on their doorstep in weeks. “Even if a messenger manages to cross the range and find someone willing to meet and even begin the discussions, we would be destroyed before they returned.”

Scott shrugged. “Then we’ll fake it.”

    ~

King Derek and his closest advisor Scott decide to fake a marriage alliance. Stiles is the unlucky bastard who looks the part.

"Hello. This is Alpha Vernon Boyd, calling from Camp Remus about—"

"Derek?" Talia asks, confused. "You're calling about Derek? Is he okay? What happened?"

"Oh, boy." Melissa blows out a breath. "All right. Is he hurt?"

"He's been there for two hours, what could he possibly have—" John pauses. "Hang on, Camp Remus? Like the werewolf camp?"

“What’s your name? I can’t keep calling you Balto.”

    “What’s yours?”

    “Stiles.”

Derek raises an eyebrow. That isn’t his real name. There’s no way. But now he thinks about it, he has a vague memory of someone, probably Uncle Peter, telling him that with the fae, names have power. “I’m Miguel,” he says.

    “Lie.”

“Are you trying to tell me your real name is Stiles?”

Stiles runs his tongue across his teeth and considers Derek carefully. “Fair enough,” he says, “Miguel it is.”

Grabbing his groceries and pocketing the change, Derek turns to leave; he’s nearly at the door when Stiles calls out, “By the way, Miguel, if you’re interested, it’s two for one on bags of kibble at the pet store down the street.”

Derek doesn’t look back, doesn’t hesitate, just raises a hand and flips him off on the way out.

Stiles took the dare, because what else was he supposed to do when the whole lacrosse team was chanting his name? Even though the werewolf pack had left Beacon Hills years ago, nobody was stupid enough to set foot on the Hale property.

    Except, apparently, Stiles.

Now he's got a feral werewolf following him around town with the sole purpose of claiming Stiles as his own.

    Summary

Environmental lawyer Derek Hale is determined to stop the planned defacement of his beloved Beacon Hills Preserve by the mammoth Starr Development company. To do so, he makes a deal with the devil himself — Stiles Starr, the brash young scion of the Starr family and COO of Starr Development. Derek hates Stiles at first sight. Mieczysław Stilinski, on the other hand, is someone that Derek could grow to like...or even love.
    _

    Excerpt:

“I have a proposition for you, Derek Hale,” Stiles interrupted. He was lounging in the corner of the car, head lolled back to expose the smooth, pale line of his mole-dotted throat. The man had a werewolf bodyguard, there’s no way he didn’t know exactly what he was doing.

“I’m not sleeping with you,” Derek blurted out, not entirely sure which of them he was trying to convince.

Instead of taking offense, Stiles’ eyes crinkled in amusement. “That’s not what I was proposing,” he said evenly. “Not that I — or anyone with eyes — would turn you down. I mean, you’re hot like burning with this whole naughty librarian vibe you have going on, but I had a different...position in mind.”
