Lan Zhan was giving him a window. It was Wei Ying’s job to take the leap and hope he caught him before he plummeted to the stained concrete below.
“Do you want me, Lan Zhan?”
The room was silent.
Lan Zhan had stopped moving, possibly even stopped breathing. Wei Ying certainly had. He didn’t want to ruin their friendship— if this was friendship—
“Want you?” Lan Zhan asked, his voice sounded as delicate as Wei Ying’s will to continue on.
Wei Ying is a poor college student and thinks Lan Zhan wants to provide for him.
A modern-day AU. Wei Wuxian's family, the Jiangs, are worried about their adopted son/brother, as he's not doing much with his life after having graduated high school.
Madam Yu manages to get him a date with a young, very rich man, with the ultimate goal of marriage as predetermined by the uncle of Wei Wuxian's date -- if Wei Wuxian and this Lan Wangji are at all compatible.
Unfortunately, Wei Wuxian finds his partner to be excruciatingly boring. But he can't bring himself to turn the man down after just one encounter, so he decides to give Lan Wangji another chance. And another. And several more. Wei Wuxian soon realises that there's more to Lan Wangji than meets the eye.
This is a story about two young men learning to accept each other, themselves and helping each other to overcome their pasts.

It begins with a stray clementine, half-peeled and trailing rind, rounding the corner and rolling down the hallway. Lan Zhan has just stepped into the lobby of the apartment complex, grateful for the reprieve from the heat. He blinks, bemused, and watches as the clementine rolls to a stop just behind him.
