    Summary

They knew each other before the Fall. They loved each other before the Fall. They were creation's first soul mates. But the Fall changed everything, and now Aziraphale is forced to live in a world where only he remembers their shared past. Burdened by pain and grief, he hides himself under the guise of a clumsy Principality until he can make his love remember once more. Only, he doesn't know how long that'll take.

    Summary

We all know they've been together for 6000 years, then the Not-So-Apocalypse they bore together too. But what exactly changed between them? 6000 Years Ago, Aziraphale tolerated the demon Crowley. In 322 B.C. Aziraphale see's Crowley in a different light, that the demon fears rejection, not from Heaven nor Hell, but from him. Somewhere in the 18th Century, Aziraphale comes to find that Crowley would do anything for him; without asking or prompting, even risking his life. Spotted throughout time, Aziraphale learns exactly what it is to love, to accept it, to return it and not deny it when it's presence manifests in your own heart. And it took 6000 years, millions of rejections, countless losses, eternal heartache and one breakup and Apocalypse for the angel to believe.

To believe in himself, and in the Fallen who risked his life.

    OR

How Aziraphale is literally repressed and in constant denial for his feelings or rationalizing them away, Crowley is afraid to lose him in numerous ways, and yet the Universe (Or God, whichever) keeps pushing them together. In tighter and tighter situations. They really needed a lot of pressure to confess, didn't they?

“D’you realize,” [Crowley] said, “that we never tire of things humans get bored with on the regular?”

Aziraphale shrugged, lazily basking. “I’ve always assumed it’s that we don’t tire of each other.”

    Summary

After everything, Aziraphale and Crowley, by unspoken agreement, begin sharing their lives.
    ---
Why? Aziraphale wanted to ask him, why millennia of the way things were, and now this?

But while Crowley seemed to have little issue upending every unspoken rule they’d ever written for themselves, Aziraphale was not so flexible, and they had spent thousands of years never quite addressing whatever it was this had stemmed from. Words, Aziraphale had always felt, were for bickering about where to eat for lunch, or hashing out ontological debates, or other trivial nonsense; there was no need to trifle with the imprecision of language, with phrasing and the possibility of being misconstrued, when it came to important matters if the other person simply understood, without needing it said. Six thousand years ago, when Aziraphale had met Crowley on the wall of Eden, watching the first two humans set out to begin the rest of history, something deep within him, more central even than his Grace, had thought, oh, it’s you, and that had been enough for him--for both of them, he assumed--for three millennia.

However much he wanted to ask, he didn’t know how. The words simply weren’t there.

    Summary

The trouble is that between you and Crowley, neither of you— Neither of you realize there’s a problem until you’re at a stage where the discovery of a problem is going to be a terrible disappointment.

Oh, there were other problems, to be sure. But those had been sorted, for a very generous definition of the word, where ‘sorted’ included ‘no longer being official enemies on account of having formally severed ties with Heaven and Hell’, and ‘hopefully having scared away the furious united hosts of Heaven and Hell, who were very interested in taking some measure of revenge on the both of you.’ And the postponed end of the world was a great help, of course.

But none of that was a problem on such a— such a personal level as this.
