    Summary

"All for one" takes on a new meaning when Aramis's indiscretions threaten to become a problem. The story of how Treville lost patience, Athos lost his head, Porthos lost his bearings, and Aramis lost everything (but got something very different in its place). D'Artagnan gets back his family farm - but his reputation will never be quite the same.

    Summary

“As I’ve made very clear, Detective,” says Treville, strained, “I don’t make it a habit of getting involved in my employees’ love lives. But considering this precinct’s utterly abysmal and somewhat dangerous track record, you really cannot fault me for being concerned when you walk into work with a split lip that was not present the night prior.”

“Track record?” asks Constance weakly, and God, this really has just been the weirdest conversation.

“Athos’s wife is a wanted criminal in twenty-two states who only last week evaded arrest yet again, d’Artagnan’s spent the better part of the past year pining after you, and Aramis has gone and fallen in love with the very married wife of a European nobleman who has somehow gotten himself accidentally involved with the Spanish mob!”

“At least Porthos is doing alright,” offers Constance lamely.

“Yes,” says Treville, looking harried. “There is that.”

    Summary

    “Cormoran,” Robin says, quieter. “Please.”

Cruelty or mercy? he’d asked Robin once on a night a little like this one, drunk and in the dark, her arm around his waist as she’d guided him home, and it’s the face of that soldier he thinks of now as he eases the door slowly shut, as Robin watches him, the shadows falling on her pale face. Had it been cruelty or mercy, the way that kid had looked at his destroyed leg and decided not to shoot?

Maybe a bit of both, Robin had said.

    Maybe so.

“Go home, Robin,” Cormoran says tiredly. “Make up with Matt." He pauses, swallows. "Go home," he says at last, leaning his forehead against the door, "to someone who loves you."

    Summary

This is the first of a series of essays I wish to write on the Gender Politics of Sherlock fandom. There are many things I wanted to say at the official panel but was unable to, since it was derailed by a group of individuals who showed up with the intention of intimidating and harassing the panel moderator. In future essays, I’d like to share my thoughts on femslash, Mary Sues and the fridging of female characters, on heteronormativity in slash, and on queer representation beyond slash (bisexual, pansexual, asexual and trans people in fanworks and fan spaces). I’d like to touch on race and being a queer Woman of Color in a fandom mostly interested in White male characters.

Before I get to those subjects, however, I feel a need to return to the original intended topic: the essay I began writing on my phone on the plane.

And that essay is on the subject of noncon fanworks.
