Tim refrains from telling Jason that most people are terrified of sharks. It seems a bit pointless. Tim isn't most people, after all.

Just what it says on the tin. It's a story about magical boys and what happens when they meet at the water.

I don't know how it could be much more fabulous as a story and as a pod. Great work in written form and podfic.

My disclaimer here is that I'm utterly besotted with Tim Drake/Jason Todd. Tim as a seawitch Jason as a merman, it's far far more compelling than you might think at first. My adoration of Tim/Jason is 100% because at some point I heard a podfic by reena_jenkins with the pairing and I hadn't even read the comics but suddenly they were fully fleshed and so real. I barely had to suspend my disbelief to ride that ride. She's like the Pied Piper of Hamlin, you'd think you can resist her but you'd be so very wrong.

Just as a sidebar, a special thing that reena_jenkins does is make great choices with her music. Then, being the gift she it to podfic everywhere she manages her music levels and quality so that it always adds and never detracts from the podfic.

I'm a picky guy about listening to pods that have manageable sound levels. It's jarring and unpleasant when I've been entranced by a reader and then the story ends with an all too loud and blaring bit of music that has me frantically adjusting the volume. This isn't something that I've ever heard from reena_jenkins. Also, Florence and the Machine for the win.

I've just run across this fic and I don't know what heartslogos body of work is like but I really enjoyed her take on the merman aspect of the story. Perhaps from childhood readings I've always somehow thought of merfolk as being obliquely, magically related to the dolphin side of things. Maybe it's the mammal aspect, maybe dolphins are most often thought of in cute and amusing ways and that suits pretty girls sunning themselves on rocks with their tails dangling in the ocean. It's not important except in context with this story and the discussion of sharks and shivers. Jason Todd, merman, I'm derailed with thinking which side of the sea he's from and indecisive except that this guy might be very cool but there's no doubt he's very hot blooded.

It's a cool and fascinating subject when you think about the way language and the wonders of Disney have colored our thinking. There's a book that I've not read called "A Shiver of Sharks" that has suddenly popped up in my to-read list. Previously my standard in descriptive phrases for pluralities was defined by James Lipton who published a magical book: An Exaltation of Larks: The Ultimate Edition. Penguin Books. ISBN 0-14-017096-0. It's enchanting if you love how the right words can evoke such vivid and emotional responses using a very few words.

I should perhaps mention to anyone that doesn't know me that I don't own and I'm not connected in any way to anyone mentioned in these comments. I don't get money from anyone in the publishing world. My reasons for pimping these folks has only one purpose and that is to enjoin everyone to taste the wonders that they've created.

I really want more of this.

Foggy as a doctor. Matt is Matt.
This is a pretty sweet story, there's no horrible angst and both of the guys are level headed.

It's great in so many ways, not the least of which is HEA. Then for my own personal likes, the guys are *guys* and while sexuality is most definitely a spectrum it's safe to say that i'd love to meet these guys in real life. They seem a lot like my friends, possibly its just they seem pretty down to earth and very grounded.

The romance is sweet but not cloying and time wise its maybe a bit fast but this is a short story not a novel so, yeah its all good. Then theres the sex. No one is anatomically strange or self lubricating in heat. I know thats a trope and ive enjoyed a few of those but i cant possibly express how pleasing it is to read guys having sex that wouldnt be strange for my husband and i and something so relatable.

As is always the case as far as DD fandom is concerned this author is so top notch that id have to say theyre definitely a standard bearer for this fandom. Its notable that pods by Rose are true treasures.

Read this story and all the DD fics and treat yourself to some awesome feel good stories.

Foggy meets a man with a red oak wand and a sweet smile. Over the next eight years, Foggy makes a lot of coffee, reads a lot of tea leaves, breaks a lot of rules and casts a lot of charms. He also spends a good amount of his time pining over his perfect partner and trying to keep his wild outbursts of emotional magic to a minimum.

    Bookmarker's Notes

    DD/HP AU Matt/Foggy
This is perhaps the most magical DD story I've ever come across. That's not a pun, it's the effect of the story, it's charming and magical and utterly sweet. This is a strangely wondrous story because it's Matt/Foggy and somehow fandom writes them as frequently very happily ever after characters but being set in HP verse would tend to make just the opposite true. I adore HP but both canon and fanon have some very dark elements and this story is positively luminous with joy and wonder and the inevitable conviction that Matt and Foggy are the perfect OTP. It's cosmic karma that they must be together and the story shows them both to great advantage. I'm not sure if Foggy is as warm and sweet in canon as in this story but it makes me really want him to be. Seeing Foggy though the behavior of his magic and the things it does with and for Matt is such a marvelous device in this story. I'm green with envy for the ideas used here and I'm not even a writer.
CV has written some fabulous stories, I mean the kind that I want to read again and again. Leverage stories especially seem very apt to her style, her versions of OT3 are delectable and I think some of the best around in the fandom. I could wish for more of the word count to them but certainly the DD fics get a lot more of that and really shine because of it.
There are so many good things to say that I'd just be babbling but I hope all of my friends that check my bookmarks will read and then leave good things to say for CV.

Just a note, most of her stories have lots of comments and I'm always a bit reluctant to leave squee and I do prefer actual comments that make a point of saying some specific things that the story did that made it special. That being said, after the first few thousand comments I feel a bit inadequate to elucidate something that none of the ones before me have mentioned. I imagine it gets really old to some writers so you won't see a lot of my comments in that section but trust me there are many superlatives that I'd love to use and lots of very specific things love about each of these stories.

    Bookmarker's Notes

A tiny podfic, utterly insignificant in the giant fandom of Avengers. That is unless it touches you. It touched me and I'm thankful to have found it. Some might be inclined to judge some other pods by this reader as - heh, impertinent... but I've loved every one of the Swears series and I think they should be heard by all of my family and friends.

This story specifically should speak to many people in and out of the Jewish community because it calls to anyone that longs to connect with something deeper and larger than themselves. It's perhaps even more relevant now than in other times the seemed more harsh. Knowing your identity is essential to living and that's what this reading speaks to me of and I think it makes it a universal tale.

I know nothing of the author or reader except their words but I admire their efforts and hope they will continue to create new works.

    Bookmarker's Notes

A short, humorous story with Stan and Nat and the odd assortment of support staff. For anyone that loves Marvel comics and the stamp on their pedigree that is Stan Lee this is a keeper.

As a boy that grew up reading Marvel as a whole and remembers X-men and Fantastic Four comics with single digit issue numbers it's heartwarming and frankly embarrassing how emotional this story made me. Stan is a seemingly spry fellow but time isn't on his side and it's so much better to appreciate him now than after he's left the building.

As if I didn't love Copperbadge enough already this story makes me wish she could write a comic for the real Marvel verse and get so many of the things right that time and social resistance have caused to be written in a way that doesn't really reflect the heart of what Stan Lee did in his early years. Much like Gene R. he wrote a world where individual matter and nobility of spirit often saved the day when power and might couldn't. This story is a warm and sweet tribute to Stan and I hope all of my friends will catch the rec and read it.
