Jon never expected to end up somewhere else. It was a sugar coated lie, meant to give Martin the courage to line the knife up to his chest.

    Jon expected to die.

It is a colorful life they are living.

“And over there,” Pearl informs Jon, guiding her father’s hand across the purple expanse of the Highland heavens, “is the swan. His name is Cygnus. He’s been in a lot of stories and myths and stuff. Papa’s favorite is ‘the tragedy’— that means very sad story— ‘of Phaethon.’”

“The gay one,” Martin whispers, his voice solemn in Jon’s ear.

    Summary

There is an eye watching over us, listeners. It hangs above in the moonless sky—yes i know, listeners, that thing up there, that looks like the moon, but that is not the moon—and the eye does not blink. It does not look outward,, no, this is the eye that views our interior, our dreams, the deep cracks and crevices of our souls where we hide our darkest fears. It watches. And it records.
And it’s British! Oh, it’s great to see that the Night Vale Tourism Board initiatives are working and that visitors aren’t being put off by our, ahem, TOTALLY NORMAL mortality rate.

But anyway. To our new friend: Welcome… to Night Vale.

(Or: fear, love, threats, and small towns where the apocalypse is the fixed point around which life turns)

(Or: Jon takes a detour while in America)

    Summary

“I’ll make sure we have a good home,” Jon says, “even if I can’t build it in a peach pit.”

The smile spreads across Martin’s face slowly, like he can’t believe Jon's such a sap. He offers his hand again then, once Jon accepts, presses a kiss to it, then a second, then a third. “And we’ll live happily ever after?” he asks, lips still pressed against the back of Jon’s hand.

“And we’ll live happily ever after.”

(in which the lads do a little time travel, have a baby, make a home, have another baby, and get their happy ending)
