“Apologies for interrupting, sirs, but would this, ah, exchange have anything to do with that?” He gestured to their linked hands in a way that meant he’d rather not call attention either out of a sense of discretion or, more likely, because he was trying very hard not to laugh.

They’d stripped off their vambraces and gloves so they could be skin to skin, which had led to the most awkward walk through base camp that didn’t involve Wooley’s rotgut or Quinlan shirtless.

“Ah,” Kenobi said, the orange back in full force. “Yes. About that. Have you by chance had the—” the barest pause—“honor of meeting the headwoman?”

“Only briefly,” Rex said, and Cody couldn’t find a single fault in how professional he sounded. “She was very forthright in her observations of the men, particularly the officers.”

Cody couldn’t quite swallow an ugly laugh.

Kenobi closed his eyes. The garish orange was edging towards something a bit warmer. Humor, maybe? Trying to parse Kenobi’s emotional state was going to succeed where the war failed in scrambling his brains.

In which Cody must endure the mortifying ordeal of being known.

Cara Dune and Din Djarin are the products of their upbringing. There's a lot of beings in the galaxy who aren't going to live to regret that. Especially since they haven't been born.

    Summary

    CC-2224 had been compromised.

That had been the assessment delivered by Lieutenant Piett, the Imperial officer who met the returning Purge Troopers in the landing bay, and CC-2224 had accepted the new parameters and applied them to his current situation. He had been compromised in the field, and that was why his heart rate was tachycardic, his vision was blurred, and he was currently being dragged down the hall by the armpits, his wrists cuffed behind his back so that every step wrenched against his shoulders.

    Summary

Captain Gregor immediately leans his chin on his palm and smiles at Fives. Fives smiles back. He does not perceive this action to be the threat that it truly is.

“That man’s going to kill him,” Jesse says with his neck craned as far as it will go.

    “Yep,” Kix agrees solemnly.

“You never know,” Echo says. “He’s squeezed better outcomes out of worse odds.”

(Fives decides that he's going to join the illustrious, mysterious, and oh-so exclusive Commanders Batch, and he's going to start by becoming besties with Commander Cody. Rex cannot stop this trainwreck but he can certainly watch it happen in slow motion - and occasionally he can offer a word or two of advice.)

    Summary

Cody raised his camera automatically - it had become instinct when seeing anything that caught his attention - and focused the distance lens. He blinked in surprise when he found himself framing up a man.

One of the park rangers, specifically. One Cody recognized.

Ben had removed his hat, currently crouching between two large trees, expression intent, face tilted upward and eyes half-shut. He had the fingers of one hand braced against the soft bracken around the trees, just…sitting there.

OR, the one where Cody and Ben meet in a national park, get to know one another, and deal with the past when it comes calling.
