    Summary

The beast's melancholy lip tightened, peeled back, and the insane catalog of its teeth shone pure in the moonlight. In every flick of its tail, and every twitch of its muscle, life lived lacking God. It was as if one of our placid lorheads had been mated to a great snake. It was as if a witch and an angel were conspiring in the body of a horse. It was as if Hell, insane Hell, was looking out at me from the guise of black eyes and a fall of red mane.

Hell was named 'boghtmaw', and perhaps that was the moment it ate my heart, just as endless generations of mothers had said it would. Just as they had seen a downed auroch with an empty throat and said 'boghtmaw'. Just as they had closed the doors and windows against the night, and said 'boghtmaw' in silence, with their eyes and their closed, frightened lips, just as they had said 'boghtmaw' long after the language that named the creatures had died, and long after the walls that caged them, immeasurably old and insurmountable, fell silent, and long after the beasts lived only in their name, and in the centurial nightmare.

And this century, the nightmare had come for me.

    Summary

In the Classic episode "Immunity Syndrome," Spock felt the death of 400 Vulcans on a nearby ship so strongly that McCoy had to escort him off of the bridge. When the Narada destroyed Vulcan, billions died. There have to be long-term, serious consequences to that for the surviving Vulcans, and especially for Spock, who shipped off with the Enterprise almost right away. It just might take a while to show.

    Summary

More than a century after the events of His Dark Materials, a Rusakov particle physicist (and lifelong Lyra Belacqua fanboy) brings a team of experimental theologians to Night Vale.

It was supposed to be a simple research trip. Instead, Carlos finds himself making a home, falling in love, and — with allies like the alethiometrist who adores his hair, a well-read middle-schooler who's handy with a knife, and a young woman accidentally displaced out of space and time — facing down a gathering crisis which threatens to topple the entire Republic of Heaven.
