“That story is very personal to Dr. Bakugou. I’m not going to hand it out willy-nilly to anyone who isn’t in it for the long haul—it has to be earned. So here’s the deal: make it to the end of your shift without resigning your position, and I’ll spin you a tale.”
In the morning, there would have been scoffing. At mid-morn, they would have asked him if he was serious. But it’s lunch-time now, and they’ve each seen first-hand how tough the next year is going to be, how hard they’re going to have to work if they want to get through this. He sees it in their eyes—the resolve solidifying.
It’s not just about the story. It’s not about Eijirou and his scars, or about their curiosity. It’s about fortitude, perseverance—about adversaries, fights, and victory. It’s about learning what motivates people, what drives them. And, more than all of that, it’s about finding the people who will help you rise to the very top.
