Summary
Wolfwood carries a body.
Vash is a walking death wish. A race between self-sacrifice and skill, and in all Wolfwood’s shitty years on this shit-ass planet he’s never met a man with so much of each.
So maybe Vash taking a bullet to the head for him shouldn’t have been a surprise.

Summary
Kaveh gets lost in the desert, goes into heat, and gets found by the one person who can't know what he is, or: Kaveh's No Good Very Bad Day.
“You’re not carrying me,” he says with a weak kick.
Alhaitham stops and lets his own legs take his full weight again; Kaveh’s ankle does something terrible for his self esteem and then he crumples almost to the sand before Alhaitham’s arm catches him again. One arm, because that’s all he needs to take Kaveh’s weight. He’s such a show off for a man whose ass never grew in. “Fuck’s sake,” Kaveh mutters to himself.
“You were saying?”
“Just—go.”
Alhaitham snorts. “Am I your servant now?”
“Yes,” Kaveh snarls.

Summary
Aymeric and Estinien are in love. It would just be great, Lucia thinks, if they would tell each other some time before the Eighth Umbral Calamity.
What's lying in the bed is somehow not The Azure Dragoon, former possessed of Nidhogg, or even Aymeric's coarse-yet-loyal friend, but one of the most beautiful men she has ever laid eyes on.
To her everlasting shame, Lucia lets out a small laugh—a sound of pure shock.
Aymeric tuts. "Yes, quite. He looks terrible."
Terrible.

Summary
Morpheus’s expression melts into unreadability. “Would you have come to my rescue again, Hob Gadling?”
“Yes. God, yes, I would have. Of course, I would have."
Hob learns where his friend has been, and even Dream of the Endless might, on rare occasion, need a hand.

Summary
Kazuha gets Tomo back, but the price is steep. He doesn't remember who he is, or that they were friends. Not, even, that marrying Kaedehara Kazuha cost him his life.
Kazuha’s sword shakes at the tip, jerking into the ghost’s throat, meeting resistance as if pressing into something real. “What are you?”
His voice is trembling, too.
The look in the ghost’s eyes changes then. His brows angle with concern. This, too, is familiar. Kazuha, don't look at me like that.
“I think it's who, not what. And I was hoping you could tell me. You're the one sleeping next to me, stranger.”
Kazuha drops his blade. It’s left a nick in the ghost’s skin. A bead of blood wells there, red as a leaf in the season he left in. What a poor ghost, to haunt a man and not know what the haunting is for.
“You can’t be here,” Kazuha tells him, and means it.
