    Summary

“Derek.” Stiles casts a slightly nervous glance around the cafeteria, eyes widening. He's a little surprised that Stiles knows his name.

Derek can feel his teammates’ gazes on him, can hear their confused whispers. He doesn’t care. There’s just…something about Stiles, and despite his parents’ warnings (“be careful of that Stilinski boy, son, he doesn’t feel right”), Derek wants to know more. He wants to know why Stiles is always alone and why, despite the sarcastic grin that seems permanently etched over his lips, he sometimes reeks of grief and rage.

    “Can I sit here?”

AKA 'How not knowing that true mates is a thing can really fuck you up'

Peter had always known he was a little messed up, but it wasn't until his nephew came along that things really started going sideways. He knows there's something seriously wrong with him and he knows his sister would never forgive him if she knew, but he just can't make himself stop thinking about it. About what it could be like if only Derek was older... and, you know, not a blood relative.

Peter's mind is against him, his heart can't seem to stop wanting, and every time he tries to fix things it only winds up getting worse.

    Summary

Stiles gets very good at putting himself back together. He learns which cuts just need butterfly bandages and which need actual stitches and he knows to keep a needle threaded because trying to get everything ready when you're shaking from blood loss is fucking hard. (Not impossible though, he learns that too. There's not much that is impossible when you don't have any other options.)

Post 5A - Stiles may not be in the pack anymore, but that doesn't mean he's going to stop fighting.

    Summary

When Bucky was young, no more than fourteen and already head over heels in love with Steve fucking Rogers, Winnifred Barnes took a long, hard look at a picture Bucky taped to his wall, one of him and Steve at Coney Island, and said, “Be careful with that boy.”

She didn’t elaborate then or ever, but Bucky has had plenty of time to learn – over and over and over – what she meant.

It’s not that Steve’s a bad guy. But it’s a hell of a thing, being caught in his orbit.

    -
The last thing Bucky expects is to run into the former love of his life at one of Tony's parties. Fifteen years of alienation shouldn’t give way so easily to strange, electric familiarity, but the two of them have always operated on a frequency of their own.

It doesn't take Bucky long to realize that the universe should have continued to keep him away from Steve, but it's too late by then.

    Summary

    Bucky Barnes was cold.

He felt like he’d been cold for months now; doing nothing but experiencing one unending chill after another. He’d been cold in England, and again in Italy, and again especially in Austria – both while he was kept in an underground cell, and when he was strapped without cover to the unforgiving metal of Zola’s lab table.

But Steve… Steve Rogers was sunshine. Everything about him was warm, from his crinkly-eyed smile to his white-hot rage. Steve was Coney Island on a summer’s day; lying back on high rooftops to watch fireworks on the 4th of July; drinking stolen whiskey in his parent’s living room…

Loving Steve was a fact – simple and plain, like breathing air or bleeding red; loving Steve was soldered into his skin like a tattoo – it buzzed in his brain like its own kind of high. It was a part of who he was.
