Summary
“I’ll do anything,” Orpheus says. His knees are beginning to buckle under him. “I’ll work in the mines. I’ll work on the wall.”
“Son, you wouldn’t last a day down there,” the god drawls.
“Then I’ll sing,” he croaks. “I’ll sing for your workers to keep them in line. I’ll sing for your wife, to keep her underground. Please…” He glances back at the house—really more of a shack—where Eurydice lies by the dwindling fire. “I can’t let her starve.”
Silence. Then, a quirk of the lips—not really a smile, but the gesture of one. “I suppose I could use a canary.”

Summary
The first Hunger Games were little more than a series of televised executions. The tributes were not picked at random—one from each district was the child of a rebel leader, and the other the child of a family who had kept their heads down, waiting for the war to end, refusing to defend their Capitol and daring to survive anyway. And—most crucially—not a single tribute was to be left alive. The Capitol would be the only victor.
“There are no innocents among you,” they proclaimed from every Justice Hall balcony. “You will be killed and your children will be killed and that is all that you are good for. Let this be a reminder of the horror you brought upon yourselves.”

Summary
these stories have a way of repeating themselves, of cycling just like the seasons. she makes the same choices. the same mistakes. he does, too. the stories go on, told and retold.
tragedies, their tellers call them. do they ever learn? asks the rest.
not for the sake of the story— she knows one day she'll wake up and it'll all have wound back to the start.but here, in the end after the end, the beginning before the start— epilogue, interlude, prologue, some amalgamation of all three— she would tell that audience that asks if they learn, we do, we do, we do. (ain't our fault the fates love a sad story.)

Summary
Even immortality is relative.
None of these kids, old as sin as they are, can remember a time without Hades. Their parents, older still, have already begun to forget: because even if you can halt the cell senescence, persuading the brain to store more data is a completely different matter - and a problem the Olympians hadn’t cracked.
Of course, we weren’t inclined to share, but I’m getting ahead of myself.
