Summary
Not fifteen minutes after her head hits the pillow, Tessa shoots up. There’s a furious knocking at the front door and it’s—she looks at her phone in a panic—three in the morning. Abandoning her robe for the heaviest book on her nightstand (which just happens to be a copy of Jane Austen’s collected works), she steels herself and makes her way down the stairs, flipping on every light switch she passes. The knocking hasn’t stopped, but now there’s shouting.
“Tess-a! Tessa, open up!”

Summary
Scott starts crying as soon as Tessa makes her appearance at the end of the aisle, clutching her father’s arm. He doesn’t blubber like Danny and Charlie bet he would, but his eyes water and send his vision glassy, turning Tessa into a something out of a church windowpane. With every step she takes accompanied by Pachebel’s Canon in D, Scott thinks of a time he’s imagined this: Tessa in a stunning white gown gliding towards him in front of all their friends and family.
Only, in all of those fantasies, Scott was more than just a groomsman.

It’s a mistake, and Scott figures that out three and a half seconds after he presses Tessa into the wall of his hotel room. It’s wrong, because he’s got a girlfriend back home, but they’re fighting and it’s Tessa and she isn’t pulling away or slapping him or anything other than sighing into the kiss and threading a hand through his hair.
