Or, five times Hawks chose his family, and one time they chose him.There aren’t many things that the Commission allowed Hawks to control. His training, his diet, his hero name, his appearance, the name of his agency, hell, the decor in his apartment had all been chosen and controlled by them. One of the few things they left to him, outside of a few of their agents who kept office in his building, was who he hired.
Sure, they sent him reams of resumes of presumably pre-approved applicants, but they never explicitly told him that he had to select from those lists. So when he could, Hawks would do as he wished when it came to staffing.
He hadn’t meant to primarily hire people with mutant quirks. Honest.
Or accidentally build a family. Really.
