Summary
Every night was not always somewhere new but every night was always something different, and through all of it, Ava found herself captivated, mesmerised. Beatrice became her anchor in many ways. She held on to Beatrice’s arm when they walked some days and nights, grateful and giddy and purposeful in holding her close now that Beatrice had learned how to relax into, and often expect, Ava’s constant desire to touch.
The first time Ava saw fireworks in the sky she went still and quiet, cheers and jubilation from the crowd around them, the bang and pop of different fireworks, a wildly conflicting scent of gunpowder and donuts… She absorbed it all. Ava’s eyes danced in time with the illumination of the sky and she groped blindly beside her until Beatrice's hand was clasped within her own. The small squeeze in response felt like winning a prize she didn’t know she wanted.
It was the little victories, sure. But it was also the big ones, too.

Summary
“I’m sure.” Lena doesn’t mean to snap —it’s more of a mild annoyance if anything because if her once best friend doesn’t know that there is no way in hell she would be doing this if she didn’t want to, if she didn’t, however unwillingly, trust Kara with this, then did she ever know her at all? “As long as you’re amenable, Kara, I’m offering my complete consent. Is that okay, or would you like it in writing as well?”
For the first time, Lena’s snipe and the crystal clear memory of their last phone call just makes Kara smile. “I’m good,” she says softly.
“Good.”
“You know, a week ago, the morning after we— I’d convinced myself it was a dream. I was scared to check my call log.”
“Do you have many wet dreams about me, Kara?”
Kara laughs suddenly, though she can’t help but feel like she’s been missing out on an essential experience. “No.”
“Shame.”
“You, uh, you hung up last time,” Kara ventures hesitantly. “Before I could…”
“If you’re worried I didn’t complete the mission, I’m happy to inform you that I did.”
“No, before I could tell you that you sounded beautiful.”

Or, the one with phone sex and feelings and the complexity of forgiveness.

Summary
Betrayal is not an unfamiliar thing.
As wretchedly sad as it would be to admit aloud, or indeed to herself, Lena knew it as distinctly as she knew herself. She knew the way it felt in her chest, the weight of it inside her body and the bitter taste it always left in her mouth until she chased it away. Some betrayals were lesser than others. Some stung but failed to surprise her, some barely gained a reaction, and some came out of nowhere and sent her reeling and overly self-analytical to see where she went wrong, what she had done to deserve it. The answer was usually simple: her name.
She just never expects it from Kara.

Summary
One second she was a respectable distance away and then next she was back in Lena’s personal space with a hand laid gently upon her shoulder.
“I want you to be human,” Lena confessed brokenly as she turned, not asking for space. Her eyes searched Kara’s, searched over every inch of flawless skin and then down to the symbol on her chest. Lena’s fingers twitched as if she wanted to trace it but she didn’t. “I want you to not be on this pedestal that I can’t take you down from. I’ve tried, Supergirl, and I can’t do it.”
“Lena…”
“Part of me doesn’t even blame you. Me and heroes… we don’t exactly mix well.”
Or the one where Lena desperately needs someone and Kara finds it difficult to accept that it can't be her, not yet.
