This was a quick one shot of the last 10 minutes of Infinity War from Bucky Barnes' point of view - of course with some creative licensing. I was inspired by watching a gif of Bucky disappearing on my twitter timeline and honestly it just went from there.
I hope you enjoy it. I might do a series of these of characters in Infinity War because of the way it was written and directed it left a lot of interpretation for the characters and their motives but there's no promises - if you follow any of my writing i dont post nearly as often as i should lmao

"He was on the verge of leaving when a little girl walked past, gripping onto her mother’s hand, a thumb shoved in her mouth. Bucky pulled his hat lower. Kids see under the hats, look past the disguises and notice things adults didn’t.
The audio recording played again as the girl stared on, transfixed by the images on the screen.
The audio finished and the girl’s thumb popped out of her mouth. “They were pretty special best friends huh, Mommy? Like, the best of best friends.” Thumb shoved back into her mouth to punctuate her sentences.
Her mother laughed lightly, “Yes, honey. It’s rare to find someone like that in life.”
The thumb pops back out, “Will I find a best friend like that?”
The woman had started to walk away still holding onto her daughter’s hand, “I hope you do, sweetie.” She looked down at her as she walked, “And when you do, hold on tight and never let them go.” "

They'd recovered from what Steve was referring to as their massive miscommunication. It was worrisome at first, that his boyfriend seemed to think that fights and misunderstandings and disagreements indicated breaking up.
He didn't blame the kid; Bucky was young, so young, and that what happens when you haven't been in adult relationship. That what happens when you don't understand building a foundation of honesty and trust and communication.
Steve reflects on the week he and Bucky had spent apart, and the feelings he has for his much younger boyfriend.
This is a follow up one shot that takes place after Sugar Sweet.

It all starts because Steve is too dumb to handle his smartphone.
A wrong number AU in which Bucky Barnes doesn't enter Steve's life (meaning: Bucky wasn't born until the eighties, but Steve is still Captain America) until Steve accidentally dials the wrong number. Wherein there is a lot of texting, some advice via Natasha and Darcy, a bit of pining, and a first date in an amusement park. Oh, and on top of being a disabled veteran, Bucky is a professional catwalker. Literally.

In which Bucky is just trying to live life and enjoy his unofficial official table at the obnoxiously hipster coffee shop but some guy named Steve stole his spot.
Or, the time that Bucky unintentionally befriended the Avengers and had no idea.
