    Summary

From the age of nine, Juniper Smith began filling notebooks with his worlds, at first places of fantastical imagination, but later with each as an expression of some theme or idea that momentarily grabbed his interest. Over the course of eight years, he shared these worlds with his friends through twice-weekly sessions of tabletop gaming. Now at the age of seventeen, he finds himself in Aerb, a world that appears to be an amalgam of those many notebooks, stuck trying to find the answers to why he's there and what this world is trying to say. The most terrifying answer might be that this world is an expression of the person he was back on Earth.

Update schedule is, as always, whenever I feel like it. Most discussion for this work takes place on /r/rational whenever a new chapter is posted.

He is actually kind of a prick.

    Summary

After Reformed, Steven asks why the Crystal Gems live apart from the rest of humanity. When the answer turns out to be unsatisfactory, Connie and he take it upon themselves to use magic to improve the world. To do this they will have to to answer a lot of tough questions and use the Gems' magic as never before.

During their misadventures Steven will threaten to leave the Crystal Gems, Connie will team up with herself, Garnet will split up, Amethyst will act as a voice of reason, and Pearl will come to find humans interesting; all while dealing with the looming threat of alien invasion, the perils of social obligations, and the infinite complexities of the modern world.

But most importantly? They are not going to do it alone.

TWiYOTUiYN is a (mostly) canon-compliant story that follows the events of the show while adding in lots of interstitial details and adventures. It explores the setting of Steven Universe in a rational manner without shying away from realism or consequence.

    Bookmarker's Notes

A surprisingly good more rational fic of Steven Universe. Way more enjoyable that the actual show. Technical writing and Pearl and Steven's characterization are a bit off at the beginning, but the writing quickly picks up and by now I can't help but think of the original show's characters as inferior copies of these ones.

An alternate timeline story where Aradia becomes John's patron troll instead of Vriska, resulting in long-reaching consequences that sets up a different endgame than originally intended. Work in progress. (Now with more quirk fixes!)

An amazing "what if", which is surprisingly rare in the fandom. Unfinished, but it's not too late.

This was actually way better than I expected. It's really nothing like Homestuck, but it's still really good. Can't say much about it without spoiling it.
