Yuri isn't the only one with a book of names to be remembered.It was wishful thinking, that thought. That thought that she would one day be able to live a life far from this war. Of course, she knew the ramifications of that. If she was not the vessel of Sothis, Fódlan would be a continent bathed in blood, locked in a raging war that would never let the lands see peace. Her own notebook was a stark reminder of what happened when she allowed herself to think like that—in what ifs.
“The idea isn’t a direct copy,” Byleth had explained as she unwound the final knot. “It’s similar, yes, I won’t deny that. There’s more to it than yours, and that is why I can’t allow you to look within.”
“Is that so?” Yuri asked with a hum to his voice. A sigh. “You continue to mystify me, friend.”

Byleth is buried. A star rises instead, burning up everything that cannot coexist with the new power coursing through every atom of your being, pressing every little contrary piece out of existence like it was never there in the first place.
You cannot be a human and possess this power at the same time, so you become something else instead.
