“Or," Marc backtracks, "you could keep staring at the fridge, which is both a healthy and reasonable thing to do.”

Marc was not fond of the rain, it reminded him too much of that day…
Too much of his young childhood, which he tried to shove down and forget.The cave.

The rain pounded, the heavy shower sending Marc into a spiralling state of panic, the mercenary took a deep breath, cocoa eyes trained on Gus the second as he forced himself to stay calm.
The memories dwindled in his consciousness and he was finding it increasingly difficult to hold them back.
“Kid?” Jake’s soft call was a welcome distraction from his chaotic thoughts swirling deeper, darker.
“Do ya want me to take over?”“It’s just rain.” Marc responded, grimacing at how shaky his voice was, as if he was trying to convince himself rather than the protector.
“It’s just rain.” He repeated to himself, mumbling, jaw clenched knuckles bone white as they clenched, vice like on the couch.
TLDR: Marc doesn't like the rain, it reminds him of his past and one particularly night, as the rain poured down spirals him into a flashback. Steven and Jake have to help bring him back.

Summary
Turns out dodging literal bullets is less chaotic than what's going on in Marc's mind. The pigeon had given them a mission to retrieve an artifact from some abandoned warehouse or something. How did the artifact somehow wound up in a place like that? Marc didn't know (or cared) but all that mattered now was that there were people guarding the damn thing and now he has to deal with them. Just great.
