    Just totally, totally lovely.

//Michael wakes up slowly, almost immediately aware of his surroundings and yet not quite willing to deal with them all at once. He’s alone, yes, but in Tom Welling’s bed, and he kicked his boxers off in his sleep because he can feel them bunched up by his feet. He’s naked and alone and there’s sunlight on his face and birds singing and somewhere downstairs there’s music. A radio. A radio and a voice singing along.

    Tom.

Michael rolls onto his stomach and grins into his pillow at the memory of the night before. The grin falters a little as he remembers the red wine, the fall onto the carpet, Tom’s determined grip on his arm. But then Tom sings, particularly off-key, and the grin is back.

There’s a little chink of tags and Cook is next to him, wiggling his tail and panting in Michael’s face.

“You have bad breath,” Michael tells Cook sleepily.

    Cook winks one eye.//

    Summary

Post RHATO #25, after the brutal confrontation with Bruce, Jason licks his wounds and takes Roy's advice and writes to Dick since Roy won't let him drink himself to a second grave. Can be read as preslash (Jaydick) if you are like me, or not if that's not your thing. Jason says Fuck a lot. This is my very first foray into Jason Todd fics or anything Jaydick. Love this fandom, and I appreciate any kudos or comments you might take the time to give!

"Today B told me that this was all my choice. This whole goddamn mess. My choice. Killing again. He’s right. And I’ll never stop. If killing someone like Cobblepot means that more innocent lives are spared, I’ll goddamn do it every time, Dick. I know that makes you sick to hear me say it, but it’s true. This rogue’s gallery Batman hosts every week, the games he plays with them, I’m sick of it. I tried playing by his rules, I really did. Things were getting better between us. We all had lunch like a normal family, weird right? He asked me how things were going. And can you believe it, he even said to me, these exact words, that maybe the world had enough heroes and could do with a few outlaws. It was a trip.

    It was a lie."

I am loathe to admit, but some of that stuff hurts worse than the hits, and he hits fuckin’ hard. He said he never should have believed in me. I guess I really did it this time. It’s like watching that clock tick down in the warehouse, I knew it was coming, but it’s pretty human to hope down to the last second that things won’t go south, someone will come to the rescue. Things will be okay. That’s not how it usually goes in my experience. Well, unless Roy Harper has your back. I’m lucky for that.

I wish I had never come back. I’m not trying to sound suicidal, but I think I should never have come back. I think maybe things that are dead should just stay that way. Natural order and all that.

    Bookmarker's Notes

"Everything I touch withers and turns to dust. Everything I make is rotten. Everything I shape brings destruction," Lex explains. The images are more than metaphors - they're memories, nightmares. "But not him. I made him as a weapon, but he turned out so... right, Clark. He's everything that we aren't. So good that I'm afraid to come close to him."

Clark needs a long time to say anything. When he does, his voice sounds ragged. "You love Kon."

Love. On most days Lex can hardly bring himself to feel that other people are real, anything other than dress-up dolls and robots, little figures to move on large boards. Even the women he used to think he loved with all his life eventually became nothing to him, meaningless names, turned smooth and faceless like pebbles on the bed of a river.

Lex turns around. He has to blink for a moment, because compared to the sun, Clark is colourless. But when Clark's features become clear, he looks shocked and guilty, shame rising high on his cheeks.

Whether Lex loves Kon or not, Clark believes that he does. He believes that the bargain Lex made proves it, and since Clark doesn't love his clone, mistrusted him even, for a long time, Clark feels shamed. It amuses Lex how Clark always needs to be the better man.

Amuses him, especially because he felt that need himself for the longest time.
