Maria Shipp, a U. S. Marshal, falls in love with a man who fights for justice outside the law.

Eliot Spencer, a man who fights for justice outside the law, falls in love with a U. S. Marshall.

    What could possibly go wrong?

    NOTES
While this is not 'explicit' it's a tad beyond 'mature' - a little racy. Be warned.
    I wrote an alternate ending.
Maria Shipp has an outboard Boston Whaler as referenced in 'The Hurricane Job.'

'Hardison bet me I couldn't learn the language. He lost.'

Somehow this line triggered a bit of fluff. Google can provide the colorful translations for the Klingon. I don't dare.

    Summary

I owe thanks to Christian Kane and his podcast following an episode of the new Leverage Redemption. He almost wrote this story for me; I just filled in the blanks. I also gleaned ideas from an Assignment X interview, where he said this: "Let’s use the word “redemption” on LEVERAGE. LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION. Noah’s character has a lot of redeeming to do. Everybody has their own way of redeeming. The thing with Eliot is, he’s never going to be able to wash his hands clean. They’re never going to be clean. Everyone else has done some really bad stuff. Everyone else has broken the law, everyone else has done stuff to other people. [But] Eliot’s killed people. He killed people for the government, and he killed people for private contractors. So, there’s no way that he’s ever going to have redemption. All he can do is keep striving to be the best he can be, and help all these other people. So, Eliot is the one character that doesn’t really get to evolve. He has to stay within his uncomfortable zone, so that he reminds himself he has a lot to pay for."

Eliot Spencer is my favorite character and after eight years of writing him I have yet to plumb his depths. He is a tortured soul forever trying to set things right.

    Summary

'Leverage Redemption' premieres Friday with its own canon and plot devices, new characters and plenty of action. I eagerly await its appearance.

With this short story, I am bidding Nathan Ford farewell in my own way. He was a much-beloved character that I will always miss. He was the cornerstone and the foundation.

I wish only the best for Tim Hutton who so brilliantly portrayed him.

    FOREWORD AND DISCLAIMER

This is a Leverage fanfiction about faith healing. If you believe strongly in such things, I don't recommend it to you. I personally think faith healing is a scam aimed at vulnerable people desperate enough to try anything. Leverage itself brushed the outer edges of the faith healing concept in ‘The Future Job.’

I should also mention that the story features male homosexual characters. There is nothing explicit and no sexuality described in any chapter; hence no archive warnings. Again, if this is offensive to you, pass it by.

This will be my last multi-chapter story, and it will be completed as time allows. I will continue to write short stories and poetry as Muse strikes. Going on 73, cataracts and age are making it more and more difficult to write, so forgive blunders, POV errors, etc., et al. If you see anything that needs correcting, please tell me; some of you have already done so. Your help is greatly appreciated. :)

    Thank you for reading.

    Summary

I lost my only son June 22, 2009. He was 27 years, 9 months and 3 days old.

Not long after, I composed this bit of prose, which somehow gave me some peace. I've shared it with very few but I decided to post it here for posterity, perhaps to mark the anniversary of his passing and his father's.

Despite a carefully managed pregnancy, Gene was born with multiple, internal birth defects along with dyslexia. He had surgery at one day old. He battled several respiratory infections including pneumonia, a near-fatal kidney infection and many other health issues all his life. He also inherited a genetic predisposition toward alcohol abuse. His frail body couldn't handle it. His kidneys and liver soon shut down.

Only someone who has lost a beloved child will truly understand.

If this serves no other purpose, should anyone reading this have a child struggling with substance abuse, please get them help.

Gene sent four young students to college with scholarships set up in his name.

Dedicated to my lifelong friend, Beverly Hobbs Duke, on her 72nd birthday

Based on The Twilight Zone, Rod Serling’s ‘Kick the Can’ episode, I weave a tale around a old school fountain that still exists in my mother’s hometown of McComb, Mississippi.

Does magic actually exist? Is there a portal to another dimension? Or a doorway into the Twilight Zone? What would we use such a portal for, if we had one?
