Azula had wanted to be perfect, which is how Ty Lee and Mai end up spending the first week of summer holidays making daily pilgrimages to the in-patient eating disorder wing of the hospital.
Now, Zuko is standing in front of her, the same golden eyes she remembers from her childhood. One eye is different — the skin around it is taut and warped, the eye slightly narrowed despite Zuko’s shocked expression. Mai’s stomachache gets worse. She had always imagined that Zuko’s injury had been a broken arm or something. She had never imagined a burn. She holds Zuko’s gaze, betraying no reaction.
“Oh,” Zuko says faintly. “Hi, Mai.”
A coming-of-age story from Mai's perspective. Maiko, Modern AU.
“You’re not carrying me.”
“I don’t mind,” the lifeguard says easily.
“I can just hop over.”
Zuko will never admit it, but being carried feels pretty nice. The lifeguard sets him down and eyes him warily.
“Are you really all by yourself?” he asks in a worried tone. “No friends in town you can call to check on you?”
“No,” Zuko confirms. Tears are forming again with alarming speed; his foot throbs painfully with every passing second.
“What kind of burrito do you want?”
“You don’t have to —“ Zuko repeats.
“I’m getting al pastor. You like al pastor?”
AU: Zuko falls for Sokka, the super hot lifeguard who helps him after an unfortunate encounter with a stingray.
‘The Chemistry of Cooking,’ wasn’t exactly rocket science, but it wasn’t going to be a total cake walk, either. Well, except maybe in week 8 — that was when they were supposed to be baking cakes. The instructor tells them to pair up, and the girl in front of him turns around.
Zuko panics. This girl is way prettier than he expected, and now she is smiling at him hopefully.
“Do you have a partner?” she asks.
“…Do you want to be partners?”
College AU where Zuko and Katara are chemistry 'lab' partners. Zuko will get more than he bargained for by saying yes.
“Zuzu!” Azula says, barely containing a laugh. “Did you have a one night stand? I’m so proud I could cry.”
“Shut up,” he growls. “And that’s not what I meant. I know who she is I just… don’t really know how to contact her.”
“You didn’t get her number,” Mai says disapprovingly. “Rookie mistake.”
Zuko groans. Getting scolded by his ex-girlfriend on not being able to properly hook up with someone is more than his fragile ego can bear.
AU College, follow up to Katara and Zuko's one night stand in Blowing Off Steam
- Part 2 of A Heated Exchange
This wasn’t like Katara. Karata was responsible. Katara was organized. Some people might call her a wet blanket, but Katara knew the value of putting work before fun. She had her priorities in order.
Katara had not considered herself to be someone who would have earth-shattering sex with a guy whose name she didn’t even know. But here she was, certain that she had never made a better decision in her life.
An AU one-shot of Katara getting familiar with a certain handsome guy who lives down the hall.
