Summary
“I am going to go away for a while and I need you to always do three things for me, can you do them?”
He pulled out his last reminder of being from the Jiang sect. He isn’t sure who found it, but one day he returned to find the bell on top of his robes, which were folded neatly in a way he never had before. He knew it wouldn’t play without spiritual energy and he just hopes that they will let him cultivate his golden core. He didn’t have anything else that mattered as much as this to give the boy and he hoped that it would lessen the pain one day for a-Yuan.
“Gege, look!” Yuan took the bell and held it to his face as he smiled at Wei Ying.
“Ah, I was right little bun!” He picked Yuan and held him in his arms as he tickled him, wanting to hear his laughter more.
“Gege said smile to make sad go away. So Yuan-er smile. Gege not sad?”
“Oh a-Yuan, your gege is never sad with you here in my arms like this!” He tickled him some more and then pressed his face into his hair.
This made it all worth it.

Only a few moments ago, Guanyin temple had been collapsing around him, rubble falling at his feet. Sizhui had frozen in the midst of it all, completely unmoored. He did nothing still when Senior Wei pressed close and smiled at him, blood dripping from the corners of his lips. It was a gory smile, all red teeth, and so obviously forced. “It’s okay, Sizhui,” he’d said. “You’ll be okay.”
