Summary
After last night's tequila shots at the karaoke bar, Buck had just gone home and rolled into his too-big, too-comfortable, too-empty bed in his too-quiet loft, and he’d—
He’d—
Texted Eddie. He thinks. The memory is kind of vague.

Summary
Sitting here, talking to the first fellow witch he's met in LA, Eddie suddenly isn’t sure why he hasn’t tried harder to make witch friends here before. It's good to have someone who really gets it. “I worry I won’t know how to guide Christopher,” he says.
“Yeah, I get that, man, especially when he has a different magic type than you,” Ravi says.
Eddie sighs. “It’s all so early. I wouldn’t have even expected him to manifest yet. And here he is connecting with every animal he comes across. I don’t know where all that power comes from.”
Ravi looks at him skeptically. “I mean, isn’t that obvious?”
“What do you mean?”
“It comes from you, man,” Ravi says with a little chuckle.
Eddie stares at him. “What?”
Or: Eddie plans a long-avoided visit to his parents, discovers some things about his magic, and begins to build his family a home in LA's witching community.

Summary
Eddie’s mouth goes dry when he opens the door and sees Buck. He’s clean-shaven and with his hair carefully styled back, smiling at Eddie sweetly and a little teasingly. Buck is wearing his dark jeans and his light blue v-neck polo shirt, the one that’s tight enough that it shows off the bulge of his biceps and the definition of his pecs and abs. Eddie knows this shirt. Buck's favourite, because he knows he looks good in it.
Buck smirks at him because he clearly knows exactly what he’s doing, and Eddie’s body goes hot, his magic sparking under his skin.
But two can play at this game. He knows Buck is watching him as he gives Buck’s body another long, slow up-and-down look. “Nice shirt,” he says, working hard to keep his voice steady.
Buck actually fucking winks at him, and he says, “Well, I thought if I was gonna cook for you, I’d give you something to look at.”

Summary
Downstairs in the firehouse, Eddie sees Buck through the glass wall. He’s sitting on one of the benches, head in his hands. He looks so forlorn. Eddie just wants to pull him into his arms and hold him close, through all the shit that’s going on with his parents. But Buck won’t welcome that.
Still, maybe there’s something Eddie can do, however small. He does a quick 360 scan. Buck? Not looking at him. Rest of the house? Still upstairs. Equipment bay and main doors? Nobody there. He keeps his eyes on Buck as he focuses his intention. A cup of coffee appears in his hands—warm, splash of milk, just the amount of sugar Buck likes. A hint of cinnamon he didn’t consciously put in there. Okay, he’ll allow his magic that one.

Or: in which the author re-watched Buck Begins and Jinx and thought: what if this was gayer and had actual magic?

Summary
Buck might be a little touch-starved. And he knew that, but he was not prepared to deal with how the knowledge would interact with his newfound awareness of his crush on—no, realistically, his undying love for Eddie. Because now, whenever he sees Eddie, Buck just wants to shuffle close, bury his face in Eddie’s neck, and hold him. Every second he spends with his best friend, he’s either picturing that, or he’s imagining Eddie’s mouth on his dick, Eddie’s hands on his skin, Eddie’s fingers in his mouth—
Anyway. The point is, he should not spend Christmas on a fucking sleepover with Eddie. But he’s gonna.

Summary
They burst to the surface gasping for breath, water clogging Porsche’s ears, distorting the brightness of Kinn’s laughter across the pool into muffled echoes along the tall glass walls of the building. He grabs for the side, lungs screaming.
“Fuck! You want to drown me?”
;
Kinn shows Porsche just how grateful he is for the perfect first date.

Summary
"Though—and I know you probably don't want to talk about it, but since you and Natalia are over with now, I've been wondering…" Maddie pauses, watches Buck make a face like he's bracing to be smacked. "What happened with Eddie?"
Buck stops wincing and just blinks at her for a second. Then he says, "What?"
"You two were dancing around it for so long, and then… what, it just didn't work out? Was the date really that bad?"
She's expecting another wince, or even for him to duck out of the conversation entirely, but instead Buck is staring at her like she's grown a second head. "Maddie. I've never been on a date with Eddie."
-
Or: the poker game was a date. It takes Buck a while to catch on, though.

Summary
They’re tying Merlin to the stake when Arthur rides into the courtyard, reins gripped tight in his hands and his horse’s flanks white with lather.
“Hold!” he shouts, his voice rising over the hubbub of the crowd. “Hold there!”
The executioner hesitates. He already has the torch in his hand, but it wavers slightly as he turns between his king and the late queen’s brother, who is standing braced against the balustrade as he watches the preparations below. The expression on Agravaine’s face is ugly, though it morphs into an avuncular smile when he meets his nephew’s eyes.
“Sire,” he says, bowing, as friendly and ingratiating as ever, and Arthur’s skin crawls as he recognises the suppressed triumph on his face. “I see you are just in time.”

Don will always say that he fell in love with Kathy at first sight.
It’s a good story. It doesn’t really matter that the truth is a little more complicated.
