“I need you to trigger the dermal recalibration points.”
“English, tin can.”
Nines seemed to be holding back a sigh. “You need to touch specific parts of my body so I can match my skin back to the correct place.”
Or: Nines has a problem, and Gavin is the only one who can help.
Aware that any banter would ruin this moment, this chance, Nines decided to meet Gavin with kindness. “Walk with me,” he answered, as he already turned around and went ahead before Gavin could voice a retort.
Gavin stood idly at first. After a few seconds, quick footsteps made their way to Nines' side and the android ambled alongside him in silence. Gavin didn’t ask questions. He just followed Nines' lead. Every now and then, the android would move his head slightly to glance at Nines.
Nines pretended not to notice.
He tried to - but with every supposedly secret glance from the android, the smile on his face became more apparent.
[I recommend reading Part 1 of the series first.]
- Part 4 of Broken
“What the hell is wrong with you! And why do you keep gettin’ me presents?” the android questioned and held the item in front of Nines’ face. “On Valentine's day, at that. Wrapped in,” Gavin halted, raised his hand and crumpled the paper, “hell, there are pink hearts printed all over it!” he fumed and stashed the paper into his pockets.
The LED continued circling yellow. An annoyed groan escaped the android’s throat before he walked past Nines, carrying the item - too big for his pockets - in his hands. The scenery looked as perfect as Nines had imagined.
[Can be read standalone.]
- Part 5 of Broken
The second thought to cross Loki's mind on meeting Thor is that he has an excellent handshake, as far as these things go: firm yet friendly, his hands big and warm to match his smile.
His first thought, if he’s being entirely honest with himself — well.

For the first time, Thor agreed to bottom for Loki and the experience is way more intense and amazing than he expected it to be.
