"Spooky Action At a Distance" is the theory in physics, opposed by Einstein, that suggests that particles in the universe separated by great distances are able to exchange information and perform in synch. This doesn't entirely explain what's up with Mulder, though.

I love Harry's alarm clock with the little bell-banging dragons, the excitement lines coming off Draco's butt, and, as always, the incredible detail put into their outfits. Draco looks so peaceful working in the garden with his big floppy hat...until he has to overhear Harry's mouth being open of course.

    Summary

It’s 2008 and Debbie is stuck in fucking Passaic County, New Jersey because her overdramatic schmuck of a brother decided to do something stupidly attention-getting involving federal agents and people who hold grudges. Again. Which means that Debbie, like everyone else who has a connection to Danny in the eyes of both the law and the criminal underworld, has to lay low. Again.

“I hate you so much,” she says, one burner phone to another. “I hope you know that.”

I love their voices, and the way Debbie brings all sort of insight into Danny and the way he relates to the world and how she relates to him.

    Bookmarker's Notes

I love this so, so much. I love how the author handled Jim and Spock's attempts at communication; that it wasn't just Jim teaching Spock, but Spock teaching Jim, and them growing closer all the while, even though they have a limited vocabulary between them. And then Spock lands in France and ask for Jim by name--perfect. All the hanging out together in hotel rooms and the cuddling and kissing is so sweet and joyful. It added years to my life.

    Summary

Spock is the first Vulcan at Starfleet Academy, and Starfleet Academy is the first time Spock has been on Earth for an extended period of time. He hopes to find a place where his status as half-human isn't looked down upon so harshly, and tries to adapt to human life and human values.

Then he meets some cadets who are willing to adapt to him.

    Bookmarker's Notes

I love this a whole lot. The ways Spock is constantly aware of how Humans communicate using differences in tone and non-verbal cues, and the concern he might be missing key information, or failing to demonstrate appropriate cues while trying to express himself, really helps to show how isolated he feels, and how difficult communication can be, even if you are, technically, speaking the same language. I felt so sad for him in the first chapter, lonely and misunderstood, but it sets up what wonderful company Jim is in contrast, how easy it is for Spock to be around him and not have to worry about making mistakes because Jim is generous and patient. As is Uhura, and even Bones in his own way. It was so satisfying to see Spock finding people who liked him and were willing to answer his difficult or uncomfortable questions.

Jim and Spock's relationship is sweet, and well negotiated, and his pon farr was gentle and lovely--their minds communicating their thoughts and feelings so well. And while it's disappointing--for me--that Jim didn't want the bond any more, I like that it wasn't the end of them, and they just did their communicating out loud until Jim was ready for that kind of exposure again, and the epilogue that takes place after the events of the movie shows he did eventually get there.

    Summary

Bad guy defeated, happy ending imminent, right? Wrong.

After the successful defeat of Nero, life is anything but back to normal for Jim Kirk. He’s lived his whole life knowing he was born different, that he can hear and see and feel things others can’t - but until now that’s been nothing more than a minor headache that he could ignore.

It’s only now after the dust settles that he finds his senses are growing worse with each day that passes. This wouldn’t be so bad if all the other looming threats on the horizon would just leave him alone, but apparently that’s just too much to ask of the universe.

Creates an effective and almost suffocating sense of panic and fear as Jim tries to figure out what's happening to him.
