    Summary

Three months. He’ll stay three months. Just long enough for that shrimpy Zhang Chengling to wean into this new world, and then he’ll leave. Just three months he’ll allow himself that brassy, beautiful line cook, who barked the most flirtatious insult at Zhou Zishu as he charged down the cracked asphalt with a towering pallet jack of wholesale soy sauce boxes; his voice magnetic like an army general’s, clear above the rumbling gallop of his condiment fleet.

    Summary

Mo Ran reached up, and wrapped his fingers around Chu Wanning’s wrist, turning it to press a kiss to Chu Wanning’s palm. “Good morning, baobei.”

They lay in their bed, curled to face one another, watching each other without saying a word. Mo Ran’s hand around Chu Wanning’s wrist was very warm. His thumb stroked a gentle curve down the inside of his wrist, making Chu Wanning very aware of the thump of his heartbeat, surging beat after beat against Mo Ran’s touch.

Outside their cottage, the rain began to fall once more.

    Summary

Shen Qingqiu had always questioned what Binghe ever saw in him. Binghe was the protagonist, the axis point on where the entire world rotated on.

Why would he go for his Shizun? Shen Qingqiu was all broken edges, with a prickly demeanor, and with an equally unaffectionate tongue. He was all chipped surfaces with no softness. He had nothing to offer.

Perhaps Shen Qingqiu lost his attention. Perhaps he would be casted aside because of his foolishness, like every side character that dared to long for the main protagonist, only to be shunned by the narrative.

Or in which Shen Qingqiu drinks vinegar, Shang Qinghua is tormented by his lackluster narrative choices, and Binghe has a tact of an elephant in a room filled with fine china.
