    Summary

“You can stay at my place, if you like?”
“I—I don’t think my side would like that.”
“...You don’t have a side anymore. Neither of us do. We’re on our own side.”

Being that the end of the world has just been avoided and there remains one more prophecy left to unwind, Crowley figures he can throw some caution to the wind and invite his oldest friend back to his flat to do some problem solving.

    Summary

The 1300s are garbage. Crowley would prefer to just speed ahead to what inevitably comes next after all this plague-ery (not his idea) and Hundred Years’ War-ing (only a bit his idea), but, as a certain angel likes to say, one can’t just skip all the ineffable steps to get there. So he’ll wait. And stew. And grouse a lot.

Heaven, it really is hellish here on the ground sometimes.

    Summary

“Why does it bother you?” Crowley asked. “Even if you can’t get to them in time to wipe their memories, it’s not like anyone’d believe them. Kid goes running to her mum saying Ooh, I’ve just seen a bloke with three heads and a sixteen-foot wingspan, what do you think’s going to happen? Chances are they’ll just pat her on the shoulder and tell her what a vivid imagination she’s got.”

“That’s not what worries me,” said Aziraphale.

    Summary

“You never talk about it,” Aziraphale said.
Crowley, drowsing on the sofa with an open book covering his eyes, didn’t answer for a moment. Then he took the book off his face and said, “Talk about what?”
But he knew. It was in his voice, clear as anything.
Aziraphale hesitated, trying to figure out if there was a way of saying it without actually saying it. There wasn’t.
“The Fall,” he said. “And… before.”

    Summary

"They’d been scheduled to meet on Tuesday, but Crowley hadn’t shown. He’d left a message, short and to the point, explaining that he’d had some things to do, and at any other time Aziraphale might have been offended at being stood up. But he wasn’t. Instead, he found himself worrying. He couldn’t name it, but things – in a general sense – weren’t as they should be. It was like looking at a design with the wrong dimensions, or an equation missing a crucial integer.

Something about the way he'd looked...

“Oh, honestly,” Aziraphale said to the empty room, and he reached up for his coat.

    Or:

Crowley has an existential crisis. Aziraphale attempts to pick up the pieces.
