    Ground Beta. The place of Katsuki’s first loss. The place where everything changed. The place where Deku became way more than just a stupid, weak nerd for Katsuki to pick on. It’s almost a joke that the place itself didn’t change at all, any signs of their previous battles wiped away and fixed. He only spared a second to wonder if it was Cementoss’ doing. It doesn’t matter, though. Knowing won’t change anything. Knowing won’t make it any more important. Not when he is standing right before Katsuki.
    It’s fine, he tells himself, taking a shuddering breath. As long as you think of me, no matter how it is, it’s fine. It has to be. Katsuki should be grateful that Deku still cared enough to bring him food. It’s more than he deserves.
    It's fine... Until it isn't enough anymore.

    Katsuki can do nothing but blink up at them for moments that feel like an eternity, eyes darting between both his parents in obvious confusion, disbelief, and, more than anything, indignation.

    "What the fuck are you two talking about? The damn nerd is standing right beside you!"

    During a battle, Midoriya gets hit by a villain whose quirk detaches his soul from his body. Stuck in a ghost-like state, the boy enters a race against time in order to save himself from permanently dying. Much to his luck - or lack of it -, the only person who can see and talk to him in this state is no one other than Kacchan.

    Alternatively: Deku and Kacchan are soulbound.

    Ground Zero and Deku are the world's top two heroes, constantly knocking each other out of the number one spot. Their rivalry keeps them both sharp, and while Katsuki would prefer to be the undisputed champion, he’s not unhappy.

    The thing is, he’s still a virgin. It’s not like he’s shy. He just doesn’t want to waste his time with people who aren’t good enough for him. But he’s admittedly let his personal life fall by the wayside so that he could focus on being a big damn hero. Anyway, now that he’s finally thinking about it, it’s clear there’s only one person who’s worthy of being with him. His oldest friend. His rival. His permanent pain in the ass. The only hero alive who comes close to being Ground Zero’s equal: Deku.
