Mike wondered what went wrong for them to end up here. The party had all been friends growing up, and Mike could have sworn that he knew Will like the back of his hand. But instead, he was sitting in the Great Hall, watching the Sorting play out in front of his eyes and going all kinds of wrong ways.
Mike was a Wheeler, so he’d been sorted into Gryffindor, just like his mother, father, and older sister before him. Holly would probably follow in the same footsteps when she ended up at Hogwarts in the years future.
Lucas was a Sinclair, Hufflepuff lineage strong and secure in his veins.
Dustin didn’t follow this pattern exactly, his mother was a Hufflepuff, but there was no surprise that he’d ended up in Ravenclaw.
El was a Ravenclaw, which was less expected. The Hopper-Byers family was Gryffindor-Hufflepuff through and through, but El was very intelligent. Ravenclaw was still a good house.
Will Byers had thrown everyone for a curveball.

As everyone races to stop it before the gates open and Hawkins is destroyed, Will and Mike will have to finally face themselves and the shattered remains of their relationship.
