"The potential end of the world really messes with the catering."

The Tale of the Inquisition, told from the perspective of someone who was standing far at the back doing the paperwork and cheering on the actual heroes. Until she suddenly wasn't.

Featuring lots of Cole (the ultimate cinnamon bun), lashings of Bull, and making Solas irritated. With much more yet to come.

Updating as often as muses and meatsuit permit.

A friend described this like being wrapped in a warm blanket on a cool day while someone hands you cookies and keeps refilling your mug of tea.

    Summary

Vera's world ended not with a bang, but with a whimper: the year is 2095, the world in the throes of late-stage climate change. The Earth will keep going, the humans - not so much. As it turns out, the apocalypse is contagious: either that, or Vera has spectacularly bad luck. Waking up naked on a bloody altar isn't the best introduction to a new place, but you make do with what life hands you. After a rocky start, Vera finds herself in Markarth, trying to make a new home for herself amidst the violence, corruption, and Thalmor zealotry. But just when things are finally settling down -- as much as they can in the city of blood and silver -- a Nord and a Dunmer roll into town with the mother of all bad deals.

    Always read the fine print.

This story starts about a year before the events of the game and will continue through the timeline and the DLCs. Canon-compliant(ish).

Updates roughly once a week for the foreseeable future. Please note -- I don't have a beta for this one, and I'm writing this as flash fiction. I do my best to weed out the typos and syntactic inaccuracies, but if something slips in, please feel free to point it out.

    Summary

The first time Paloma felt like she might make a difference, was purely an accident. In all her years on Thedas, it took accidentally steeping the wrong flowers into a tea for her to feel like her life here had meaning or worth, or that she remotely had any power to change anything of what she knew to come.

***Remastered Version of The Reluctant Alchemist's Guide to Thedas, Part 1"***

A modern-day historian tries to survive Thedas by wit, chance, and the skin of her teeth at the questionable edges of the Inquisition.

Margo Duvalle likes her quiet academic life just fine. Her research on the history of botany is going well - until she finds an odd manuscript in the local special collections library. What starts as a promising source for a new article leads to a series of unfortunate events that hurl Margo into an unfamiliar world - and into a stranger's body. But a PhD in history doesn't prepare you for surviving in a world on the edge of collapse, especially when the organization that seeks to fix things is itself a sordid mess. As she tries to unravel the mysteries lurking behind young Evelyn Trevelyan's apparent incompetence, Margo is led into a tangled web that weaves multiple worlds together — and what waits in the shadows might be much bigger than whatever strife plagues Thedas.

The story of the unlikely kinship between two women thrown into Thedas from different worlds, and kept apart by distance and history, but whose lives interweave on the pages of a forgotten textual artifact.
