John could die like this, with the knowledge of Sherlock’s love pressing into him: the sharp angles of Sherlock’s body, the kneading grip Sherlock had at his back, the soft caresses of Sherlock’s lips against his own, and the intoxicating words Sherlock sent chasing through his brain, healing freshly-opened scars and lighting dark-remembered corners. This would be the way Captain John Hamish Watson of the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers, Army Doctor, and soon-to-be husband of Mary Morstan would die. And he couldn’t be happier.

Summary
Sherlock owes Mycroft a favor. Mycroft calls in that favor by offering Sherlock's consulting services in a charity auction. Sherlock and John soon find themselves at the country manor of Mrs. Ives-Patton Smarmington III - not very coincidentally a long-time friend of Sherlock's mother - where they are reluctant participants in her Murder Mystery Weekend. It's a play within a play for Sherlock and John, and their roles for the weekend event bleed over into their real lives, waking the sleeping dragons within.

Summary
In 1850, John is a mute young man forced to marry to save his father from indebtedness. His sister as his interpreter and his piano to keep him company, he travels to London to live with his husband James Moriarty. Without John's consent, James sells the piano to his friend Sherlock Holmes, who only asks for lessons from John in return. The lessons turn into a power play between the two when Sherlock proposes a deal: John may earn his piano back one key at a time, certain conditions attached.

Summary
Sir Harold Watson requires his younger brother John to marry for money. The wealthy husband-to-be? None other than Sherlock Holmes. Before the wedding can occur, Sherlock gets swept up in an investigation of random found body parts and strange letters addressed to him via Bow Street.
As John tags along on the investigation, getting to know his new husband, he finds himself in a London full of mad natural philosophers, rejected suitors, one overbearing brother-in-law, and more terrifying experiments than he could ever imagine.
Definite slash, though a slow build. Taking Sherlock back in time instead of forward.
