“You look nice,” he began, and cringed because it was such a date type of comment, and this wasn’t a date but a friends meeting for dinner occasion, even if Kaoru did look kind of date-like with his cloud of hair and pristine yukata.
“You look … uh … floury,” Kaoru teased, brushing his hand on Kojiro’s sleeve.
“Downside of making pasta.”
“The upside is eating it, though,” Kaoru replied with one last pat, and settled back into silence. He unfurled his fan, something Kojiro noticed he did when he was entirely at ease, so he let the silence settle gently on them.After his recent stay in hospital, Kojiro invites Kaoru over for a meal.

Kojiro takes a deep breath. "Back when we were still in school. After... Adam left. It hurt when you started shutting everyone out. You pushed all the people who cared about you away; it was difficult to keep my foot in the door because you tried so hard to close it. And I was afraid of what would happen if you actually managed to do it." He lowers the hairbrush.
--Kojiro has always been so patient. But he's an honest gut, too. After Adam's attack, he's going to convince Kaoru to let go of the past.
