Something hit Lan Wangji’s cheek, knocking his head to the side and leaving behind a sharp sting. It took a moment for Lan Wangji to realize he had been slapped. “Pay attention when I’m talking to you,” one of the Wen soldiers barked. Lan Wangji glanced at his face for a short moment before demonstratively looking off into the middle-distance again.
Lan Wangji gets captures by a group of Wen soldiers during the Sunshot Campaign. Wei Wuxian comes to rescue him.

A silence blankets the air around them. Wei Wuxian closes his eyes and recaps the last couple of minutes: him asking (a little crudely) what happened, the juniors looking like Lan Wangji had just announced his deep hatred for rabbits, Lan Wangji himself looking like he’d just announced his deep hatred for rabbits, both of them asking the same question, and—
Realization seeps into Wei Wuxian's bones.
He looks up at Lan Wangji, and Lan Wangji is staring right back at him, and Wei Wuxian’s lips are still tingling, and Lan Wangji is still poking at his own.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Lan Wangji groans.
At the same time, Wei Wuxian murmurs, “Ah.”
(In which Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji investigate a curse and get cursed instead. Everything they try to say comes out of the other person's mouth. It can only go downhill from there.)

They're probably the most expensive thing in his run-down little studio apartment, and far too ostentatious a gift from someone Yibo still barely even knows. But Yibo isn't about to pretend as though he doesn't like them, or that he hadn't liked the swooping rush of pleasure in his stomach when Xiao Zhan had presented him with the box.
