I’m looking down at the floor when I hear his low, husky voice and peek up at him a couple of feet away. “We can call a draw whenever you want, sweetheart.” He gives me a cocky grin.

Kylo suddenly hears cursing outside the window of the diner. Cute, feminine cursing.
Pulled over on the side of the road sits a green Jeep with wood panelling, and yelling at it as if has done something personal to her is a small slip of a girl in cut-off shorts and cowboy boots.
He can’t do anything but stare.
As she stretches to reach under the hood, one long leg sticks out behind her for counter-balance, like a ballerina on the stage. Kylo licks his lips as he tracks the length of tan, smooth skin leading up to her round ass sitting above the grill like a cupcake on a platter. Then she’s quickly back up to standing again, whipping her long, brown hair over her shoulder to reveal a gorgeous, smooth face.
He’s absolutely mesmerized.

Orphan Rey has never seen a sunset that wasn't set over sand. She fixes up an old Jeep Woody and heads to California on Route 66. When the Jeep breaks down outside of Albuquerque, tall, dark stranger Kylo Ren offers to pay her for a lift. As the temperature rises between them, they run west to escape their ghosts, together.

She froze, lips parting with her hitched breath. “I finally have you,” he said, equal parts smug and awestruck.
A few steps forward to the wall, and she had to throw out her palms to brace herself on the cold stone. His firm heat behind her shifted, thighs pushing into the back of hers as he held her tight.
“You like to run,” he whispered as his long nose brushed through her hair, “but maybe you also like to be caught.”

“Obviously,” she said, narrowing her eyes.
“On Christmas Eve?” He couldn’t hide the surprise.
She set her jaw. “Look, I’d rather not get into my life choices right now, if you don’t mind? Do you know where the lodge is or not?”
He took a step closer and she didn’t flinch. This close he could see the light sprinkling of freckles on her checks reflecting back in the full moon light.
“You see that mountain there?” He reached out a long arm and she followed his finger.
He waited. She tilted her head and huffed. “Yes, I see it.”
“On the other side is the Black Mountain Lodge.”
Some of the color drained from her face. He wasn’t a mind reader, but he swore he could hear her unspoken, "oh, shit," from where he stood.

“It’s okay,” she whispers again, not just a reassurance now, but permission.
The press of her lips to his is soft and chaste, a simple caress of her skin on his. A kiss that says, it’s okay, you’re safe, or maybe, I’m so sorry. His lips are full and warm, and he patiently accepts her gesture like a gift.
She draws back and rocks on her heels. His fingers twine with hers, squeezing tightly to not let her go, as his eyelids press shut.
When he looks at her again, his dark pools have ignited, tiny flecks of gold sparking in the darkness. A vibration kicks on under their feet, the train engine idling as the kinetic energy builds. Her heartbeat thrums in her veins and she recognizes the same fire in him that is burning through her.
Summary:
It’s 1945, the United States is at the end of World War II. Rey rides the train to Philly each day to build ships, supporting the troops however she can. She has a chance encounter with wounded Marine Ben Solo on the train, a moment of hurt and healing that leaves her breathless. When Captain Solo later becomes her supervisor at work, she must summon the courage to speak to the man who has haunted her dreams.

The prompt was: "Regency/Victorian AU, Ben sees Rey's stockinged ankle by accident, Rey notices this and challenges him more in public by showing a bit more leg, wearing lower necklines, etc. Being the gentleman that he is, Ben refuses to touch Rey unless she agrees to marry him. Can end in any way that the writer wants."
My only excuse for what follows is that I was exposed to Victorian pornographic fiction at a young and impressionable age.
