    Summary

“Here, in this Historical account, it is my duty as an author to write down our history as Hobbits. This book will never see outside eyes, no, and in fact I will only write the one, and it shall be kept secret, and safe, from the outside world. I do not intend to jeopardize our livelihoods by writing this, but only wish to shed some light for future generations as to our complicated existence. -Author’s note in the beginning of, Hobbits: A History

Hobbits, were not always what is seen now. They were not kind and pure of heart, had not held a love of food, peace, nor growing things. Men say they appeared out of the hills of the Shire one day, with no preamble-that they, as a race, came into being as such soft, clean, docile little creatures full of love and laughter.

But that is not the truth...

Peace was a lie. So were the Hobbits. Such kindly, merry, folk shouldn't rightfully exist. Gandalf had many questions, even before the adventure, and now they were all being answered.

Or the one where the author gets inspired by another fan-fiction that has vampiric Hobbits in it. Take your pick.

Thorin never felt the urge to protect something as intensely as he was feeling right now. Even his nephews, he believed that they should have their own scars, cause that's how the world shapes people, but he couldn’t think of… he wouldn’t let any harm to come to the fragile creature in his arms.
"Who are you?" Thorin whispered and caressed the hobbit’s hair.
    He would find out.

Or, that one in which Hobbits are rare, so they had been enslaved. Thorin finds a sick, hurt, blond, beautiful little Hobbit and takes care of him.

    Summary

No word could adequately describe the relationship between Mycroft and Molly.
The two were not friends. Mycroft and Molly had known each other for years and were pleasant to each other when their paths crossed, both with and without Sherlock present, but the term “friend” implies casual conversations over tea or coffee, perhaps the occasional meal, or the offer of a spare cinema ticket when the original companion’s schedule changed at the last moment.

It’s always better to have a friend go with you than the ticket wasted.

None of these things ever happened between Mycroft and Molly.

While the term acquaintance, probably most appropriate --- Mycroft was Sherlock’s brother. Molly was Sherlock’s friend. That would imply that Mycroft was Molly acquaintance -- didn’t carry enough weight when coupled with the truth that Molly had saved Mycroft’s brother three times and killed him once.
