    6 year old Midoriya Izuku had been told that his father was Midoriya Hisashi, but that wasn't exactly true. His father actually happened to be one Tony Stark, the same Tony Stark that had recently returned from Afghanistan after being kidnapped. Yinsen's dying words had been "Don't waste your life." Which was pointed enough to get him to try taking part in his son's life.

    And that decision is going to make a whole lot of things become much more complicated.

    After an encounter with a villain while out with Class 1-A, Shouta Aizawa is suffering the effects of an unusual Quirk with fatal consequences. A fever is running rampant through his body, scorching him from the inside out and leaving him with a desperate, insatiable ache that cannot be sated alone. Unless dealt with promptly, he'll be dead before the sun rises. He's running out of time. He's running out of options. He's in excruciating pain and god, he can barely breathe.

    But, Toshinori Yagi isn't going to allow this. Despite the feelings he keeps concealed from view, despite the way his heart hangs in tatters before a man he knows barely tolerates him in a professional sense, he won't let Aizawa suffer this alone.

    So, let them burn together.

    Sirens.

    Those are for ambulances, Izuku dimly remembers. And police cars and fire trucks. Izuku always hopes it’s a fire truck, so he can go to the window and watch it zoom along the street below. He has one, in fact. A fire truck. It has a ladder you can move up and down. His mom got it for his birthday. It’s red and white, and the light on top flashes when you put the batteries in.

    “Izuku! Where are you?”

    Hands reach under him and turn him over. Big and gentle, lifting him off his back, into the air and out of the dirt. He’s folded against someone’s chest. They smell like cologne and smoke, heartbeat steady and slow against his ear. Slowly, Izuku blinks tears away and looks up. It’s a man. With half his face missing, so all that’s left is a smile. “Hello again,” he says and presses a kiss to Izuku’s hair.

    Izuku, ears ringing and limbs weak, opens his mouth and screams.
