When Derek comes to, his head hurts.

No, hurts is the wrong word. It's not strong enough. His head feels like it's being split in two, down the middle. His ears are ringing, and his vision is blurred.

But despite it all, strong and crisp and clear, is the underlying scent of home, pack, and mate.

    Summary

It is fourteen years after the Battle of Hogwarts that he finds himself at the helm of MI6’s Q Branch, 29 and thrilled and terrified and completely alone.

(In which everything is the same except Q and Bond are both wizards and think the other is a muggle.)

Look, Derek is the worst. Everyone knows that. Their fearless leader is a total and complete failwolf.

Which means the rest of them? Are kind of the worst too. They’re a ramshackle, slap dashed, sorry excuse for a pack that’s about a half second away from getting one of them killed. And this is a problem, because Stiles would really like to survive high school. Thanks.

Still, no one deserves what Derek has gone through. Nobody.

And it’s about time somebody told him that.

“’Give me a hero, and I’ll write you a tragedy’,” I exhaled, picturing the Inquisitor with only one arm. My voice sounded hollow, even to my own ears.

Solas’s eyebrow raised, but he did not immediately reply. His sight joined mine, staring at the empty place where the Herald of Andraste and Cullen had previously stood.

“You think this story will have a poor end?” He asked, after a second of contemplative silence.

    I know it, I thought.

    ——————

There was no hiding from it, no denying it; no rationalising or trivialising. This was a land I thought I knew so well, alive and breathing before my very eyes. This was the land of so many legends, so many myths and mysteries; the history of its earth embedded in the soil below my very feet, the blood, bones and tears of thousands I had never thought actually existed until now.

    ——————

[My own interpretation of the 'Modern Girl in Thedas' trope, with the woman in question having full memory of the events of Dragon Age: Origins, 2 and Inquisition. She is NOT the Inquisitor. Striving for a realistic approach.]
