It shouldn't hurt this much.
But it does. So much so, that she can't think, she can't breathe, it hurts too much to stay awake and force herself to go to school. Just from knowing that there's the possibility she'd run into her the halls. Smiling brightly like she's hung the sun and the moon in the sky, what used to be their cherished secret is gone. No longer theirs, alone. Now Nicole's on the outside looking in and Waverly won't let her in.
Everything was easier when they just hated each other.

Sitting in her cruiser, Nicole wonders how she ended up down this road on her patrol. She pulls off onto the almost nonexistent shoulder and turns off her headlights, knowing that nobody else would be coming down here at this time of night. The road is a dead end, after all. She realizes she couldn't remember anything about how she got here. Had she driven here specifically, or had she just drifted along on her patrol? She can't remember anything about the last however long...
She should have been paying better attention, but every time she was alone her thoughts drifted back to Waverly.
All the extra things that could have happened off screen in Season One with our favorite revenant hunting squad and one Nicole Haught.
“Holy fucking shit.”
Waverly Earp did not ordinarily swear. But today was not an ordinary day.
'I went home with a woman!'
After a break up the last thing Waverly Earp wanted was a drunken hook up, especially a drunken hook up she couldn't remember.
She falls for everything that is Waverly Earp. And she has a thousand arguments on why she shouldn't fall for her “straight” best friend but then Waverly smiles at her, that one smile that is like bottled sunshine and all her arguments fall away. Somewhere deep down Nicole knew falling in love with Waverly was inevitable. She was a goner the first moment she laid eyes on her.
Inspired by Vance Joy's song From Afar.
- Part 1 of Can't help falling in love
Waverly has been with Nicole now for almost 2 years. They are still fighting the remaining Revenants and the demons that snuck in when the gate was briefly opened by Willa. And things seem to finally be working in their favor. Or so Waverly thought. She learns new things about her girlfriend and then her girlfriend is being pulled away from her to fight for freedom.
