When darkness and peril suddenly falls over Eos, Prompto Argentum - a friendly, advanced humanoid robot serving as mascot for the world-famous Argentum Aquatic Centre - finds himself alone in the aquarium for ten years, abandoned in the only home he has ever known. One fateful evening, an unexpected visitor sets his ongoing daily schedule asunder, turning his entire world - and everything he has ever known - upside down.
Beyond the aquarium walls, the mysterious stranger shows Prompto that there is more to life than what lay within these walls - and that there is more to himself than mere customer service programming. Together, Prompto learns about the world, friendship, love, and most importantly, what it means to be ‘human’.
The Kingsglaive and Crownsguard’s annual ‘friendly competition,’ is just around the corner. Known as the Crowns-Glaive Duels, or simply as ‘The Duels,’ the three-day test of speed, strength, and skill also conveniently coincides with the yearly physical testing exams, standards enforced on all in service of the Crown.
Gladio has always performed well in the strength and skill departments, but speed hasn’t been his friend. His superior officer suggests he become running buddies with a fellow member of the Guard, and it turns out to be the last person Gladio would have expected.
Prompto has suffered through emotional and physical abuse at the hands of his biological father and adoptive parents, the Argentums, until Cor Leonis takes him in and formally adopts him. Finally in a safe space, Prompto can start to recover from the years of abuse, but one of the lasting effects is selective mutism, rendering him unable to speak in anxiety-invoking situations. Encouraged by the king of Lucis, Regis, Cor decides that it's time to send Prompto to the private school in Insomnia to learn how to interact with others his age.
Meanwhile, Noctis is the prince of Lucis, thoroughly spoiled after an accident that left him scarred, both physically and emotionally. Like Prompto he is selectively mute, although he is further along in his recovery than Prompto is. His father doesn't mind that his son is pansexual, especially when Noctis reveals that he is dating prince Ravus of Tenebrae. However, Noctis quickly realizes that he is in over his head and may need help to get out before he ends up more wounded than before.
A modern prince/high school AU that focuses on recovery from trauma and found family!
“Beacon Hills Sheriff, Stilinski speaking.”
“Hey Mr. Stilinski.” Scott says, the words sounding foreign in his mouth. “Can I uh – ask you a question?”
“Scott please, I’ve told you, call me John. But sure, what’s up?” The area around the Sheriff is quiet, he must be at home, or they’re having a slow night at the station.
“Do you know…if Derek Hale has a mate?” He asks, still not really sure why he cares. Derek hadn’t been in his pack for the last 7 years. But still – that call had been a cry for help, and if Scott could help, he wanted to.
John Stilinski stopped breathing for a minute, Scott could tell. “Why, Scott? Why do you need to know that?” He finally asked.
“There was some kind of werewolf distress call. It was from pretty far away. I think it was Derek. I don’t know how I know this, but it’s basically a request for help, because a mate is hurt or dying?”
The Sheriff hangs up on Scott.
Or, the one where Stiles and Derek are mated, and the pack moves back to California, only kind of informs the McCall pack, and then Stiles gets kidnapped and almost killed.
