Tony was coping with Peter’s previous kidnapping the way he usually did: waking up at three in the morning from nightmares, drinking a butt-load of coffee, and working in his lab for hours on end
And the Avengers noticed.
But no one really knew what to do about it. The only people he vaguely listened to were Rhodey and Steve. Okay, that’s not true, he listened to Peter.
Which is were the snuggling came in.
Rhodey noticed that Tony listened to Peter. He told Nat, who had also noticed, who in turn, told Steve. And so, they conspired and came up with plan: make-Tony-realize-he’s-being-an-idiot-and-learn-to-take-care-of-himself.

“Something came up,” Tony says. “I had to make a detour on my way to our lunch meeting. I’m sorry you’re gonna miss those bacon sandwiches you like but…” Tony trails off and jerks his thumb, indicating the back seat.
Rhodey twists around and jumps. “Holy shit,” he says, just shy of shouting it.
(In which Tony is late for lunch with Rhodey and there's a good reason for it.)
(A one-shot that has turned into a one-shot series.)

There was no need for compassion towards a spoiled prince who didn’t know shit about life.
Even if he got abandoned in the forest by his own father robbed of his magic power to teach him a lesson.
Or if he was being trained and drilled every second of his life to become the perfect successor of the king. Someone who got punished mercilessly for every hint of rebellion or weakness. Someone who refused to use his fire magic, because he dreaded nothing more than being compared to the king.
No. A prince like that didn’t need any compassion.
Or: How a self-crowned king finds a wounded prince and takes the opportunity to make some money, but ends up with so much more.
