Summary
The house is quiet and lit only by moonlight and a few low burning candles for the servants’ use, who of course will not go to bed until the family has. Kaoru glides through the halls like a ghost, pale as starlight and feet whispering over the wood floors and rugs. When he gets down to the servants quarters, there’s light at the end of the hallway and the sound of clinking dishes.

Kaoru wonders how his idiot of a boyfriend hasn’t realised that Kaoru himself is far more dangerous than a rattlesnake, with or without silver jewellery. He’s probably more likely to bite too.

“It’s not like it would be a satisfying form of stress relief for me anyway,” Kaoru grumbles eventually. If it’s normal for friends to exchange this sort of information then Kaoru should try. If he freaks out everytime Kojiro mentions sex, then it’ll be obvious that Kaoru has a problem with the fact that his best friend seems determined to introduce everyone but him to his dick.
“Oh?” Kojiro perks up next to him. “Guys you pick are all rich and successful but suck in the sack?”

Summary

Intending to slay one of the beasts and claim the bounty set on its head, Hua Cheng soon finds himself hopelessly drawn to the wanted merman and, in time, begins to uncover the true history behind his village and the curse which plagues it.

Aka the one where Hua Cheng looks for a new tutor for his daugther Ban Yue and accidentally finds a new love.“I’m quitting.”
Oh, wow, what amazing words to replace the good ol’ good morning. To say Hua Cheng is flattered is a major understatement. Except he isn’t. He’s pissed. And angry. And furious. And so very tired of this bullshit he wonders why he even tries.
He glances at the little girl absentmindedly petting E’Ming’s fur in the garden. The frustration diminishes a little bit. He remembers why he’s still trying.
(...) Hua Cheng glares at the woman. He can’t remember her name no matter how hard he tries. He doesn’t care either.
Those who dislike his daughter aren’t worth remembering.
