In which Deadpool has oddly specific and frustrating morals, Spider-Man has excellent friends, his lab partner has an opening for a bassist, Johnny Storm has the warmest feet, and everyone has had enough of hearing Peter talk about Wade Wilson (except Aunt May: she’s always glad to hear he’s back in town).

Where A Rainbow Is Used As A Signal And Somehow Dirk Sees It For What It Is (He's Pretty Sure, Anyway) by cosmicocean
19 Dec 2017
He’d been sitting there, giving Dirk shit, calm and comfortable and enjoying himself, and thinking about how he wanted to do this a lot, and how he wanted to do this but also maybe other, romantical sort of things, and it had seemed like a signal, or a sign, or just something to alert Dirk, maybe? Something… flirtier, he guesses, except he’s terrible at that, so. It was a terrible idea. Terrible plan. Terrible and embarrassing and just plain old dumb.
Where Todd is awful at flirting, Dirk somehow manages to read him relatively well, and the rainbow stripes on Dirk's jacket are velcro.

“Dirk won’t stop telling me he’s good at stuff.”
Amanda gives him a look. “Ooooooooookay?”
Where Dirk seems to find it important to tell Todd of his general capabilities.

Even from a young age, he isn’t a romantic. It’s around third grade that kids start writing to their Match, eight year olds asking questions about their name, where they’re from, what they like, who they are. Todd doesn’t. He’s not really into the idea of Matches, even if it’s something he can’t change. People fall in love with people. If he falls in love, he’s not going to fall in love with someone who he knows only from ink on his arms that he didn’t put there.
Whoever his Match is, however, does not feel the same way. His left arm (so he must be right handed) is covered with doodles. Crude flowers drawn with what looks like ballpoint pens, so lots of skipping and gaps in the lines. Sometimes the outlines of hearts that look like fountain pens, but are smudged quickly, the ink running too hard.
Soulmate AU where anything you write on your arm appears visible on your soulmate's. Written for the Dirk Gently Big Bang 2017.
How Todd Brotzman faced down a smug sister and a shitty fish, saved his best friend from peril (again), gave a pretty good Christmas present, and got an even better one.
