Merlin wondered how Arthur had managed to convince him to agree to this. He'd agreed the knight's obviously sometimes let him win in tournaments for fear of injuring the Prince of Camelot, but to lie to everyone, help Arthur participate in the jousting tournament in secret, and give up his bed for the prat?

Merlin wondered when he stopped being able to say no to his prince.

    Bookmarker's Notes

In this story, Merlin and Arthur are teenagers in school, and Merlin has a crush on Arthur. Arthur asks Merlin out on a date, but Merlin doesn't think it's real because there is this large sociology (?) project happening in the school that month where students try to live the lives of someone else and then present what they learned at the end. Merlin thinks Arthur's project is being gay, and so tries to keep himself from falling in love. At the end of the month, he discovers that Arthur was actually dating him, and wasn't pretending.

    Summary

"You...Are Emrys?" Arthur asked slowly. He turned to look back at Merlin who only offered a bright smile in return. It wasn't comforting. In fact, Arthur was fairly certain it was the same smile he gave when he returned Arthur's dirty laundry and tried to insist he washed it.

"I am." The man nodded solemnly "Though you may call me Alator."

Arthur had to fight to keep his face completely blank. Right. Fine. Okay. He held up a finger before gesturing Mordred a bit closer. The knight shuffled to his side, leaning in so he could hear when Arthur started whispering.

"What did this prophecy you keep mentioning say again?" He asked and when Mordred opened his mouth, held up a hand. "About me and Emrys."

"Oh," Mordred said and shrugged "You fall in love with him."

Arthur slowly turned back to Alator. Then back to Mordred.

    "...are you sure?"

    Or

Alator lives. This sets off a series of events that include: Mordred coming forward as a druid, Arthur learning of the existence of Emrys, Merlin asking Alator to please pretend to be Emrys, Alator agreeing, and Mordred deciding the best revenge is convincing Arthur that he is destined to fall in love with a man older than his father.

    Summary

Arthur tried to find words to express his utter, complete, absolute disbelief of the situation, but nothing seemed to come out. Finally, Merlin took over.

"So let me get this straight," he said slowly "A goddess came from the sky...Told you that you had a destiny to, um, help this Emrys-"

"Actually," Lancelot cleared his throat "She requested I serve as an ambassador between Emrys and Arthur."

    Merlin stared.

"Right..." He frowned "So, uh, she told you to do that and...Gave you a chicken to close the veil between worlds?"

Percival looked at the pile of feathers with a grimace as he nudged them away with the toe of his boots.

"Yeah, that about covers it." Lancelot said and shrugged "My lord, does this mean you’re going to kill me?" He asked, turning to Arthur. "Because I’m pretty sure this this crystal ball has magic in it."

Arthur wished he would have thrown himself in that damned veil when he had the chance.

    Or

Instead of sacrificing himself to the veil, a goddess of the Old Religion decides to use Lancelot for the greater good of the prophecy. Lancelot...Decides to take a different route.
