“We need to leave soon,” Nami says. She’s lying on her stomach, head buried in one of Alabasta’s heavenly soft pillows, wrapped into silk sheets softer than anything she’s ever known before.
From where she’s lying, she can see the starry night right outside the huge windows, every time the desert wind lifts the curtains. It carries with it the scent of the city, still charred after years of war and pain, leaving the aftertaste of ruins and dust and smoke on her tongue.
Nami and Vivi and saying good-bye.
“God, again?!” Usopp looks down at Sanji who's sitting against a column and tilting his head back while pressing a tissue against his bleeding nose.
“Shu' ub,” Sanji growls. Or, he tries to. It sounds rather unimpressive.
“You're terrible,” Usopp says but he can't hold back the fond smile that's been blooming all over his face again and again ever since he's stepped foot on the Sunny after returning to Sabaody.
It's the big party after defeating Hody Jones. Usopp gets Sanji away from all the mermaids.
(Honestly, Sanji, these nosebleeds are disgusting.)
Kankuro looks from Gaara to Lee and back. Gaara decides to ignore him for now, taking those last few steps down the hall, past their coat rack and over Temari's running shoes.
“Hi!” Lee says, and if smiles could be measured, Lee's would run on for miles and miles.
Gaara’s heart is ready to leap at that. A smile he hasn’t seen like this in months, and wasn’t supposed to see for weeks to come.
“Oh,” Kankuro drawls behind him. “That Lee.”
Lee visits Gaara at his house for the first time and Gaara realizes he's afraid to watch him leave.
“Depends on what you're interested in,” Coby calls back, heart hammering in his chest but it's almost calming to be nervous like this. Keeps him alert.
“Anything that shakes the world at its core,” Drake says, and yes. That's the code.
“Well,” Coby says, turning a page of the paper like he's not immensely glad to be sure it's the real X Drake sitting in front of him. He still has to confirm with his own code to identify himself. “There's been an earthquake on an island in West Blue, if that's what you mean.”
Coby meets with Drake.

“Surprise me,” Gaara says.
Impossibly, the vendor's smile seems to grow.
“You are my favourite customer today!” he exclaims, reaching under the counter and pulling out a ceramic mug.
Gaara can feel himself smile back, the uptick of his mouth a strange feeling after hours of constant frowning.
“Stop flirting, Lee,” a voice calls from inside the stall.
After a terrible meeting, Gaara spends his break on a christmas market and with the cute guy selling mulled wine.

It’s supposed to be a one night stand. Pick up some guy at a bar, barely remember his name and never learn anything real about him, send him packing in the morning with a thanks for the ride and a cup of coffee to-go. That’s how it’s supposed to go.
But then it’s the best sex Sokka has ever had, and he thinks he’ll hate himself if he never gets to have it again.

Best ZoSopp story out there. Thoughtful and raw, such an excellent study of their relationship.
