Summary
A Prequel to Journey of a Thousand Kisses. You don't need to have read Journey and Sojourn to start this story. It can stand alone on its own. But if you want to read the others and haven't yet, don't read this summary; it has spoilers!
The Thousand Kisses Series tells the story of the ideal life Jamie and Claire crafted for themselves and their family using the knowledge and abilities unique to time travelers. But their life hasn't always been so perfect. This is a tale about how our young lovers met in a loop before that fateful ride to Lallybroch and how they fell in love in an entirely different way. When tragedy strikes, how might Jamie and Claire fix what's gone wrong and ensure it never happens again?
For the sake of readers new to this story: Frank died years ago in the war, and Jamie no longer has a price on his head (he returned from Paris after Colum and other family members advocated for the charges against him to be dropped).

The Frasers are taking a trip to Mt. Josiah to visit John Grey and William Ransom before winter hits the Ridge. Missing their friend and lover terribly after five months of separation, Claire and Jamie and are eager for their reunion.
However, not all is well at the plantation. Having a sister and a stepmother who are enlightened by knowledge of the future, Willie makes significant changes to the very foundation of how he lives his life. Jamie, John, and Claire do their best to help William deal with the fallout of his decision.

Right before Culloden, Jamie makes Claire promise she will be a mother to Fergus. With the deed of sasine in hand and that promise in her heart, Claire heads back to Lallybroch. There’s just one thing…she didn’t tell Jamie she was pregnant. Now, she is faced with the prospect of never getting to tell him, of having to raise their child without him. She is also faced with the dangerous reality of her high risk pregnancy. But Jamie made a promise: whatever happens, she’d never be alone again. And even without him, Claire can feel him keeping his promise through the love and comfort of his family, helping her bring their child into the world and raising her in his memory.

My take on “Jamie doesn’t send Claire back through the stones.” I wanted to somehow prove that even if Jamie had died at Culloden like he’d planned, Claire still would have been happier raising her child with Jamie’s family in the past than she ever would have been in the future with Frank.

This is a story that will run parallel to Memory Must Be the Devil. It can be read as a stand alone, or as an alternate storyline to MMBTD. This is a storyline that takes her away from Frank, instead of her staying in the other. Like a sliding doors rendition.
