“I honestly don’t hate you, Lance,” Keith confessed.
“Well,” Lance laughed and spoke in a facetious tone, “I guess I can die happy now.”
In a flurry of instinctual movement, Keith pushed Lance up against the wall, fists curled tightly into the front of his jacket. Keith’s hands trembled as tears blurred his vision of the blue paladin’s panicked face.
“Don’t you say that. Don’t you ever say that!” Keith breathed, clenching the fabric tight enough to leave wrinkles.
Death is an unavoidable consequence of war. However, it doesn’t make light of Lance’s sacrifice or the way it shakes the very heart of the team in the aftermath of the battle and their victory over the empire. Lance’s absence weighs heavy on their minds - an unforgettable presence lost.
With the feeling of nightmares crawling under his skin, Keith wakes to Lance’s familiar face and laugh and the overwhelming influence of Zarkon, alive and well. But when Lance dies again as a casualty in the battle, Keith realizes that this may be a nightmare he’s tapped within until he saves Lance or dies trying.
(next update hopefully 3/10/2021; I'm still alive!!)
Slow burn (expect VERY slow burn) Klance story set between the end of season four and the start of season five (or at least, that's where we start). I have a rough plan of where I want this to go, but my characters tend to drag me into uncharted territory, so... yeah... no promises. (Also, I am SUPER rusty at solo writing and would absolutely adore reviews and feedback)
- Part 1 of Shore Leave
Pressed into the Galra military at a young age, Keith finds purpose and belonging when he is recruited by Prince Lotor. Keith finds a family amongst Lotor's generals, and Lotor himself.
But the reality of war requires sacrifices and hard choices. As obstacles pile on and the stakes rise, Keith finds himself forced to make difficult decisions. When forced to decide, though, Keith knows where his loyalties lie.
Keith will always choose Lotor.

The day after they saved Yokohama from Shibusawa (or the day after their fairytale-like reunion in the sky), Chuuya feels like a witch has cursed him in punishment of his unbecoming act towards his supposed princess.
Exhausted, he ends up taking the day off, only for the said princess to show up right before him.
“I figured out Chuuya wants me here, at least for tonight?”
“That is a wrong prediction, Dazai.” He counters.
“Heehh? Besides,” Dazai smirks, “you have something to give me.”
They spend the night sharing a couple of drinks, words, and an act that marks the beginning of their new tale.
